United States Navy Four-Star Admiral Michelle Howard and Institute Director John Shaw discussed the importance of inspiring leadership in tackling America’s public health, political, economic, and social challenges.
Howard is the first African-American woman to command a United States Navy ship and is the highest-ranking African-American and woman in the history of the United States Navy. She served as Vice Chief of Naval Operations, commander of the United States Naval Forces Europe, commander of the United States Naval Forces Africa, and commander of Allied Joint Forces Command Naples. Howard is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy.
