The USNS Comfort (this ship) is home ported at Norfolk Naval Station. If Comfort can steam at 20 knots, it's less than a day (350 miles) to Pier 90 in Manhattan. Five days allowed to get her supplied, manned and moving. She has a maintenance crew at all times. Six days total. Rachael Maddow, March 20, "Nonsense, it (the Comcort) won't be there by next week. This ship was designed as a military hospital, not a vacation cruiser. It was build for the military to carry out major serious medical missions. This ship will handle any and all trauma situations and it has a bunch of operating rooms that can handle accident, gunshot and just about anything a city can dish out. Coronavirus patients will NOT be cared for or screened here. The idea is to try to keep the virus away from it so they don't mix the virus patients with regular emergency patients. (as much as possible)
