जब दुई परिवर्तनकर्ताको भेट भयो!
अमेरिकी दूतावास, अमेरिकामा रहेको गैरसरकारी संस्था रिसर्ज इन्टरनेशनलसँगको सहकार्यमा, दुई अविश्वसनीय एसिड आक्रमणबाट बाँचेकाहरू र अधिवक्ताहरू, नेपालकी मुस्कान खातुन र कोलम्बियाकी नातालिया पोन्से डे लियोनको भेट गराउन सहयोग गर्न पाउँदा खुसी छौं। दुवै महिला अमेरिकी विदेश मन्त्रीको अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय साहसी महिला पुरस्कार प्राप्तकर्ता हुन् - मुस्कान २०२१ मा र नातालिया २०१७ मा।
मार्गदर्शन र आपसी समर्थनको शक्तिमा विश्वास गर्दै, रिसर्ज ले यो प्रेरणादायी पहिलो भेट मिलाएको हो । दुवै महिलाले एकअर्कासँग आफ्ना कथा, अनुभव र गर्दै आएको कार्यहरु बारे कुरा साटासाट गर्नुभयो। मुस्कानसँगको आफ्नो भ्रमणका क्रममा नातालियाले रिसर्ज नेपालका कन्ट्री डाइरेक्टर तथा रिकन्स्ट्रकसनका प्रमुख शल्यचिकित्सक डा शंकरमान राईसँग भेट्ने र काठमाडौंको कीर्तिपुर अस्पतालमा रहेको नेपाल क्लेफ्ट एण्ड बर्न सेन्टरको भ्रमण गर्ने अवसर पनि पाउनुभयो।
मुस्कान र नातालिया दुबैले आफ्ना दुखद अनुभवहरूलाई शक्तिशाली वकालतमा रूपान्तरण गरेका छन् र कानुनी प्रवर्तन र सामाजिक मनोवृत्तिमा महत्त्वपूर्ण परिवर्तनहरूको लागि जोड आआफ्ना देशहरूमा प्रमुख आवाज बनेका छन् । रिसर्ज र अमेरिकी दूतावास लैङ्गिक हिंसा विरुद्धको विश्वव्यापी आन्दोलनमा आफ्नो आवाजलाई निरन्तरता दिन प्रतिबद्ध छ।
When two changemakers met!
The U.S. Embassy, in collaboration with ReSurge International, a U.S.-based NGO, was thrilled to support the meeting of two incredible acid attack survivors and advocates, Muskan Khatun from Nepal and Natalia Ponce de Leon from Colombia. Both women are recipients of the U.S. Secretary of State’s International Women of Courage Award - Muskan in 2021 and Natalia in 2017.
Believing in the power of mentorship and mutual support, ReSurge arranged this inspiring first-time meeting. Both women shared their stories, experiences, and work with one another. During her visit with Muskan, Natalia also had the opportunity to meet with ReSurge Nepal Country Director and lead reconstructive surgeon, Dr. Shankar Man Rai and tour The Nepal Cleft and Burn Center at Kirtipur Hospital in Kathmandu.
Both Muskan and Natalia have transformed their tragic experiences into powerful advocacy, becoming leading voices in their countries and pushing for significant changes in legal enforcement and societal attitudes.
