I was there when they first sang it in the Superdome. I am proud to say that I live in New Orleans are very happy they made this song to bring back a little bit of our strength after Katrina hit.

This is for New Orleans. If U2 and Green Day are the only artist in the world to help a city in need than they deserve respect. They brought my city a million tears of JOY in place of a trillion tears of SADNESS. Just look at what they did at the Superdome. It brought out my tears too. I saw it live well T.V. and it was the most moving thing I have ever witnessed. That city needed this song. They need the Saints. This is for NEW Orleans the greatest city in the world. PEACE!!!

People here complaining must not be familiar with the timeline of this video. Hurricane Katrina destroyed New Orleans August 2005. It was a ghost town here. Not long after we were given coach Sean Payton & QB Drew Brees where they have compassionately dedicated their lives to bring our soul back to this city. Our love for our Saints has always been profound. Without our Saints there would be no city of New Orleans 💜

This song gave me hope. When it first came out I had just taken my 3 year old to get his glasses fixed. We couldn't afford a spare pair, and when we walked out with no glasses he said, "But mom, I can't see the colors..." Absolutely broke my heart, I got him in the car and started crying. I turned on the radio and Live 105 was playing this song for the first time.

The video is disingenuous. I get what they were trying to say but a lot of military did actually go down there, it just wasn't as flashy as all the aircraft flying over the city. I was in the Marines, most of my unit volunteered to go and they sent half of us.

The MP's were fantastic! You always called them first before NOPD at that point. One of the many things that haunt me from this was that it started to feel "normal" when the MP's would bump into in the deli on Frenchman St with the butt of their guns. They weren't doing it on purpose, it was a tiny place. But you honestly saw the absolute best in people, and you also saw some of the worst. One of my favorite parts of the video is the tag of Not as seen on TV. True Dat!
