Without any doubt, this is one of U2’s best studio recordings. It is quintessential U2. All its ingredients are the things that make U2 great. Machine gun drumming from Larry; Probably one of Adam’s best bass lines; Classic Edge riffs with those ethereal delays; Bono giving it hell on vocals. This is a masterpiece. Deserves to be heard much more widely.

@soulcornflake12 жыл бұрын
I read once one of the reasons Adam's bass is so integral to the sound is because when he learned to play bass he played an octave higher than most bassists. Edge shaped his sound around the sound of his bass.

I often said to my Dad about how U2 began and joked with him "Dad if only you had sent me to Mount Temple instead of Chanel College!. Who knows Dad who knows??. When this album came out, my dad bought the cd and we took a vacation to the beach. It was literally all we listened to but it was awesome. That memory will forever be related to this album

When I first heard this I got chills on chills my heart quickened and tears started flowing. It has that effect still so many years later. I listen to it daily. It lifts me up yet it calms me down when life is chaotic.

Totally underrated album. It sounds a lot like the U2 from the 90s. Is such a pity that it wasn't that well received, and they go back to their not experimental pop songs in the following albums.

U2 is my oldest love in music. Bono's voice, Edge's great sound and guitar playing and the solid and original spine of the band with Larry and Adam who are always forgotten... Juts one of the best bands still active that never changed a band member and that was never afraid to take chances. I would love your input on our last video. If you have just 3 minutes to listen and a bit more to comment, that would mean the world to me : kzbin.info/www/bejne/q5epZZqLdsRpqLM

When I was a kid in the late 90s my grandma had these books on architecture from different time periods around the world. This song, even though it came out about 10 years later always reminds me of those days looking through those books and sparking my lust for travel and history.
