This band's name was inspired by an old indigenous legend from the indians at the base of the Xingú river in the Amazon Forest. The legend of a forest creature. UAKTI was a monster with his body full of holes, as he run through the forest the wind passing through those holes produced beautiful sounds, those sounds attracted women from the nearby villages and UAKTI seduced them, jealous the men hunt, killed and buried UAKTI in the forest. In the place where he was buried many years later grew a beautiful tree, using a piece of wood from that tree a young indian made a musical instrument that when played produced the same sounds of the wind through the body of UAKTI.

I am listening and will listen forever ; I feel the rivers in my moving to the dynamic ebb and flow of the music, so life filled to hear this version though I have loved the compositions for 25 years , the sounds helping me recover from cancer. My dream would be to create choreography for this, especially after being invited to Amazona last summer, to learn from community members, activists and scientists and dream how dance can be a part of the great changes needed for humaity to remember they are part of sacred cosmic eco system ...

Aguas de la Amazonia es el disco más importante en mi vida, lo oigo hace 6 o 8 años… pero nunca había visto un video de Uakti interpretándolo. Es demasiada mágia y destreza. Viva la vida! Viva la humanidad!

There is a recording out with them playing music by American composer Philip Glass, it's great, they're really good, in fact, they bring to mind the Philip Glass ensemble, from way back in time, when I was growing up. Yes, it's fair to say that I love their work.
