Kerch Bridge in Danger - Russians Are Extremely Afraid to Lose the Logistics Bridge

The illegal Kerch bridge has been on fire several times after successful attacks by Ukrainian security forces. And since then its strategic object has lost the most portion of its strategy value. Most of military cargoes and fuel is transported on ferry crossings across the strait. But 'downing the Kerch bridge' would be a significant moral victory for Ukraine, as ISW observers note.

Kerch Bridge should NOT be destroyed or even slightly damaged. I believe the Kerch bridge should act as a Joint Security Area (JSA) between Russia and Ukraine. Much like the DMZ for North and South Korea, the JSA should be in the middle of the bridge with a DMZ ran through the middle. Of course for this to even be considered, russia would have to cede control of Crimea to Ukraine, but placing a working JSA DMZ point of connection between the two governments, much like the North and South Korean model may be a good option. Hostorically, looking at these type of conflicts and engagement ts of war, there will never be a clear winner. I believe an Armistice should be developed, not a total capitulation and loss of statehood as putin is trying force on Ukraine. Do I believe Ukraine could defeat russia? If the situation (weapon flow, political support, personnel availability, attrition of russian forces and equipment) remains steady state, then yes as every empire falls due to these conditions. But it would come at the cost of economic recovery and commencement of rebuilding what the enemy has destroyed. This idea may not be especially popular but I would recommend placing russia back in the G9. Why the G9? Well, with Ukraine, it would be the G9. Due to Russia has been so weakened and Ukraine has become the Premier Military Power in Europe due to this conflict, this would be the organization, an organization that actually has "Teeth" and not muddled by politics like a NATO entry, that true "Flat Earth" politics could be discussed, though I wouldn't go that far to call russia a Democracy. Well, not until "Swan Lake" starts playing on late-night russian TV networks anyway..😅

@wizz2483 No. The U.S. didn't tell Ukraine to leave the Kerch bridge alone. Fact if the matter is it's already suffered serious structural damage. Damage to the extent that all trains must be smaller and carry smaller payloads. It's carry capacity has been reduced by 75%. And even reducing the size and weight of the trains, it could still suddenly up and collapse. Taking the bridge down now will be more important for its psychological impact.
