Gosh!...our own tribal leaders and members can't even do this for their own Diné people. Seeing grandma turn that faucet and om goodness that smile, it made me cry tears of happiness. Thank You for coming out and doing this for them and big thank you to your Diné employees for coming back and helping their people..Ahééhéé !!!!
@tribesecurity9284 жыл бұрын
Desbah Yazzie My thoughts exactly. It just showed that someone at NTUA isn’t doing their job to find another solution to running water in remote areas other than a hard run water line off of a water main. Another point, we Natives like to bash the white man for “oppressing” us, yet it has to take a white man to get volunteers to come help our own people. So sad. Thank you to all UA workers who participated and got one of our ma’sani’s running water.
I'm happy for Grandma. It is very hard to work with chapter officials. They don't deliver applications through proper channels. All applications are hidden in the file cabinets until you make a follow up. Application comes back to surface, as soon as you leave the office it goes back in the file cabinet again. Nothing is processed. It's very aggravating and constipating procedures to depend on getting assistant at the chapter house. Before my current chapter president didn't do s***. Current president is doing more for the community. I appreciate him. (Different story for officials relatives, they come first, if your not closely related. The application is collecting dust).
@desbahyazzie37694 жыл бұрын
@@clarajohn6662 omg gosh someone gets it and understands. That's what I've been saying the official's family, friends, and relatives get the help first. And that's been going on since the chapters went up and opened. My parents are part of that JUA dispute and were relocated. But a year or so later after moving in our houses, the house started getting cracks here and there. So they went to the chapter to ask for help but were told they had to go to the relocation office. They went and were told there they had to go to the chapter cause they were given fundings for the JUA people. So they went back to the chapter and were told again they had to go to relocation office. But my mother told them; "no, they said we had to come here cause guys got funding to help us out when we ask". Then that's when they told my parents "there's no more funding ". Even my cheii is trying to ask his chapter for help because his ceiling fall in and his part of the JUA too. He was gonna get help from the previous official. but since these new people came in (4-5yrs ago )and the first chapter meeting they had they told the community "whatever paper work and applications these previous chapter officials were working on; is no more and being thrown in the trash". And my cheii's papers was one of those and even people who were gonna finally get power lines, Those papers were thrown out too, because of that an argument broke out and the police were called. But now no one really goes to the meetings anymore, to where sometimes their less then 15 and they still have the meetings. Which their not suppose to but they do. The previous officials were helping everyone out and even got the people who live in areas where powerlines can't go up cause of too much rocks, they got a company outside the reservation to donate solar panels to them. And really working to get people what they asked for help for....😟but now no one is getting help and the people who rallied and campaigned for these new officials are complaining about them cause of broken promises and want them out now. It's sad to me that our tribal leaders and chapter Officals couldn't and cant do this especially now with this pandemic going and them putting up signs and posting on social media, ""we Love our elders"", "care for our Diné people". Its like if you're saying that, at least show us all in action and help.

I'm a union carpenter and Its awesome to see union plumbers helping Navajos get running water. The real reason a number of our people not having access to running water is the Navajo Tribal Utility Authority's red tape bureaucracy. I am fortunate to have running water since the mid '70s. But I've seen so many of our people not having running water. On our Navajo Reservation there are plenty of plumbers but they charge lots of money for their services.

My heart is heavy but with emotion seeing you all being so kind. And please no one disrespect my religion keep it to yourself. All religions should work together at this time of need and not put others down. These other race are doing good for our people and are they doing the Diné way? In traditional and Christianity we can both say yes. Prayers were answered no matter what. So don’t blame religion on why this virus went to the reservations.

Navajo men and women actually do know this stuff. We build America. we are welders, HVAC specialist, we supervise and main nuclear powerplants, We are in medicine. Too become this we have to leave our elders. Get an education and obtain job experience, we may get married have kids and knowing that education is poor to the Rez we decided to live in cities to raise our kids and guess what grandma and grandpa are 100-1000 miles away. That's fuel, food for the kids are who ever else is going to eat, supplies to build, and the time to do it.

Well there are young diné people who know things but it just the Navajo Nation who isn't making, building or providing jobs out here for them to work. They're only makes business for themselves and only hiring their own family, relatives and/or close friends.

Excuses or not, there is too much nepotism on nav res., so young ppl try to save money living and working in cities, but then rent, utilities, and providing for ur own children gets prioritized, soon saving up to pay for electricity line, water line, ECT. Is just a dream in the past.
