Thank you for this amazing video. Here in Yakutia we used to make bone fires under them or trucks to warm up the engine and oil in winter. Now we only do that is the truck is outside engine off for too long. It will work. UAZ takes a lot of maintenance but very resistant! That is why here have a lot of them here as they can survive our mud road and winter with -60C

We ar ethinking about getting one. You both say a lot of maintanence, but also resistant. IS it a car, that will cause a lot of trouble ? :-)
@firstandlastname23907 ай бұрын
@@CasperWolff it depends on the car and year. Generally speaking it is a car that needs regular maintenance and repairs. If you know mechanic you will be ok. And you need to make sure you have access to parts as well.

cyrillic YA3 on the middle hatch says indeed UAZ. Spare key says ZIL also a vehicle company. You can get a 5 speed but this engine will lack the power. Those tires are made in Bulgaria I think and are kinda sketchy on the road :P

Originally imported from Lithuania by the looks of it. The pen is from the Bank of Lithuania and the blue sticker is for a Lithuanian political party. The bottle does say glass cleaner and is washer fluid. I used to live there when these were everywhere. Been in a lot of them and my wife was taken to hospital in a grey ambulance one both times our daughters were born. I've even been camping in the forest in one. We want to get one as well from Lithuania. No problem as we can register it there if needs be and then drive it home. I'm Scottish but speak fluent Lithuanian and my wife is Lithuanian and can speak Russian. I'll get one with synchro mesh on all gears though. Oh and the button below the fuel guage is to switch between the dual tanks. I expect others have told you that. And the engine bulge into the cargo space has a hatch so you can get to the 4th spark plug.

Russian cars used to be like that, often designed with the owner doing servicing and some repairs, possibly in a remote part of the Soviet Union. I had 2 Moskvitch 2140s in the early 80s and they came with a starting handle, a very comprehensive tool kit and a large A4 hardback owners manual, with detailed accounts of many procedures with diagrams and photos, rather like a Haynes manual. One memorable section was dedicated to 'Laying up the Car in the Event of Hostilities' (removing and storing fluids, battery removal and storage, wheels and tyres off, stored and car placed on blocks in a shed, as I recall)
@SeasideGarage3 жыл бұрын
That's interesting.... Its such a shame that this philosophy of making stuff that the owners can maintain is a dying thing.... I really hope that will change one day.

I think I know that car, given your Danish Accent and the fact that there are not many "Kermit the Frog green" UAZ 452 in Denmark. This is one of the cars Vladim brought to the country. I was also interested in that a year ago and had a test drive, You have to double declutch when you drive that UAZ. At some point in the 80's UAZ upgraded to a synchronized transmission this one was build before that. You can get newer transmissions for them if you get tired of double declutching. I think I know what the B and D stands for, that is for picking the tanks that the engine consumes from, as you probably has learned this car got two fuel tanks. YA3 that is UAZ in Cyrillic.
