I've loved this band from the beginning for 45 years now. I was there and had the time of my life. I would also go see other guys, but Ali is UB40 to me and always will be. Love him to bits.

Ali Campbell is the best in the world. Without ali the original ub 40 will never impress or sound origina or golden. Due to personal disputes his brothers Duncan and robin lost him the back bone of ub40. I love mr ali as I met him n his band astro and mickey. Most humble caring loving and fantastic people. Now The original UB 40 band got a new member named Matt Doyle. His voice is also much similar to Ali. I witnessed him in Toronto. UB 40 live in concert. It was really great. But I like Ali' s voice also. But this band's music is not good. The original UB 40 music gives a great vibe.

For me it doesn't matter.. Love them both. But if you check history the band got started wit Ali beeing glassed in the face. Blind on 1 eye.. From the money he got out of it, they bought the first instruments.. So basically Ali is the kickstarter

Official UB40 and new(ish) singer are much more polished and professional. Gilly G is great too. Ali's session band would be just about ok if they dropped that toe curling percussionist. He cannot sing and he cheapens the band.
