It’s unfortunate that CBS is not practicing balanced journalism by not inviting and interviewing Uber drivers, I have friends who drive for Uber and Lyft and Uber drivers are always complaining of making lesser money. I also drive for Uber occasionally and I make far less than he claims. Drivers paid car note, insurance, gas and very high maintenance cost, the only reason why most people drive for Uber is when they are in between jobs. Lastly, Uber have no single respect for drivers, they lock them out without listening to their stories whenever a rider complains. It’s the worst company to work with

Agreed! I would love to hear CBS or other networks interview the drivers without interrupting them constantly, especially with Dara sitting right there. I'd love to see the drivers' faces when he says they're making more money than ever.

The conversation about Tips is disingenuous, he’s leading me to believe that there’s an abundance of cash tips. There’s not. The drivers I know get tips from only about 10 to 20% of the riders. $33 an hour. Sounds terrific until you calculate costs. The real net? 30% of that.

$33 dollars an hour….?Lol Plus the time they spend driving around for rides…. Yeah but ur not deducting for Gas….and non driving time. I have a feeling its much less once you deduct those. Id love to know from working UBER drivers if any here.

You are correct sir! The key term Dara uses is "per utilized hour" so all of the time drivers are sitting there waiting for a ping (online time) is not included. Gas, maintenance, car payment, insurance, etc are not included. Oh and did I mention taxes? Uber pays a base fare of $2 per trip the vast majority of the time (some markets have a fare of only $1.50) so drivers are most certainly counting on those tips to make it even slightly worth it. Imagine making a 5 or 6 mile trip that will take a half hour of your time, put a half hour of wear and tear on your car, for $2. lol.....just lol. Dara likes to throw out that Uber paid "x amount of billions of dollars" to make it sound generous but in reality it's a very tough gig for drivers.

I also want to point out that Uber does not calculate or pay for the first 10 minutes to go pick up a rider, the time wasted in between trips and drivers have to pay all the taxes including the money Uber took as commission. Worst part is some riders as so rude they behave like you are their private chauffeur. Like the stops future for example, some riders abuse it by going for groceries shopping while you are there wasting away. Uber does not respect the Drivers, therefore they don’t ask them their opinion before they implement any changes

I’m a full time driver. I have a sign that says “Life is hard for all of us. Please only tip if you’re in a position to do so.” I take my earnings, turn around and put it right back into the ride share companies. Align your interests with your business partners and it will pay off in the long run. Ride-sharing is not about getting rich off one trip, it’s about establishing a habit with riders to use the service because it works for their budget. If we price out the ones who use it most, we won’t succeed. Plus, surge rides pay a little more for drivers while charging riders even more. I’ll take two happy end-users over one upset one everyday. (Independent Owner/Operator, not a SHLL)

Uber is beholden to their stockholders. Their goal it’s to finally become profitable with the pipe dream of autonomous vehicles. Here in San Francisco we already have two companies out of about six that have permission from the State of California to offer Rideshare in a pilot program. Before the pandemic 25% of Uber’s Rideshare revenue came from five metropolitan areas out of about 120 countries back then: San Francisco, LA, NY, London and São Paulo. In the core of these cities where the most profitable neighborhoods are infrastructure is way behind technology for one can’t program AI to break traffic laws and not be liable for catastrophic accidents when picking up and dropping off passengers illegally. In California Taxi Cabs are allowed to encroach in the bicycle lanes for that purpose, Rideshare drivers are not. Huge swathes of parking meters will have to be eliminated on major commercial corridors for autonomous vehicles to pickup and drop off passengers. Meanwhile Uber will continue to charge as much as the market will bear and pay as little to drivers taking advantage of the additional surplus of drivers due to the looming recession and inflation. It’s simply the law of supply and demand.

Do you have an inline contact centre in banglore for driver support??? How the driver get payout? Errors occuring adding bank details, because of names initial eloborations. Your app and IT engineers are very poor. Your competer Rapido making good business even their price for rides are high compared to yours. You are wasting your profit because of your unskilled app techies.

I have been an Uber driver in the UK for almost 6 years and I find their new update for the driver's unethical and deceiving. 1) Before they used to show your online hours example if you signed on at 8am and signed off at 8pm they would show you how long you have been signed on. Now they only show you your on the job hours example, if out of 12 hours you have been on a job for 5 hours and 5 hours waiting for a job, they only show you the 5 hours to give the impression of working less hours. 2) Before they would pay you your holiday pay the following week and show it so it's clear, but now they include the holiday pay into the trips. This is to give you the impression you are making more than you're really making for each trip. 3) Before your pension was automatically deducted on each Friday so the total profit for the week is what went into your account but now they hide this information on the app so if it's £500 of total income for this week £460 would be going into your account. These all seem like unethical ways to deceive their "sarcastically" partners drivers who have no say in any decision they make. All this is designed to give the drivers the impression they are making more money in less time when they are really making less while filling their own pockets with millions of dollars by flooding the market with more and more drivers.

Unaccompanied teenagers under 18 were not allowed to ride before. Drivers were required to ask a persons age. If they believed the writer was under 18, and refused the ride if they were. Children learned to fib about their age, as did parents who ordered the rides for them.

New features include cutting driver pay - stealing 55-72% of every fare, paying drivers below minimum wage, cutting their pay so much they lose their health insurance so Uber doesn't have to pay $1300 toward a healthcare stipend, and cutting driver pay by 90% just before Xmas. So Dara can pay himself $25 MIL a year. GROSS. GROSS. GROSS.

So why are you guys not talking about how much drivers make an all of the over head spending we have to make like gas tires bakes and cleaning materials to keep up on maintenance costs for the mechanic costs… etiquette they are taking 50% of the college fair for Uber CEOs and top paid earners in the Uber CEO corporate companies and I do not make the same amount of money making my overhead cost and profit margin about 37,000 here which is really bad very bad for owner and operator of the vehicles the man that sits in front of you makes over $20 million a year but yet he doesn’t care about the maintenance of vehicles and the wellness of the drivers if they get underpaid enough stressed out Drivers
