UPDATE ON THIS STORY: As of 16th March 2021 Uber made a U-turn and has announced it is to guarantee its 70,000 UK drivers a minimum hourly wage, holiday pay and pensions after this ruling.

Another update for you, Uber have now agreed to pay back holiday pay etc themselves, I never agreed with the case as no one forced any driver to sign up to the platform, where minimum wage comes into it is totally ridiculous, I’ve friends who’ve been with Uber since day one and there earned hourly rate is much more than minimum wage, as the driver told you he’s happy as are thousands of other drivers. What the case will do is get all the other app platforms similar to Uber will have to come into line. Uber, bolt, Ola, free now works for a lot of people and works well. I’ve never met an unhappy driver. Uber’s much cheaper than black cabs, once lockdown ends I’m sure the public will continue to use Uber etc as frequently as they did before corona
