Most trip from Dublin Airport to Dublin City Centre would be between €30‐36.

I never knew this, sounds awesome.

Okay, the meter records and prints a receipt for every trip. If someone does over egg the fare, you can report it. The driver must answer to Uber on this. Uber obviously has a record of the distance of the trip. I have mistakenly under entered fares and the app does catch this, asking if this fare is correct, e.g., entering €1.90 instead of €19.00. But I've never over entered a fare but my guess is that the app catches it, asking for a confirmation.

Turkeys are the same Matt, I got loads of Taxi there and the work off the same process, the customer pays the 20% commission. When they add it at the end.

Can’t speak for the pricing structure, being Irish myself and working for Uber Safety, the only case from Dublin I ever had was where a girl on a night out got sick in the car and the Gardaí (police) took her home. The Garda later delivered some cash from the girl’s father to cover cleaning. I binned the case off to the call centre in Manilla - as long as the driver didn’t put a cleaning fee through the app; which may need to be forwarded to fraud. The only other case from Ireland was Delivery Partners for Eats fighting in the car park of McDonalds- that happens EVERYWHERE. From a Safety perspective the worst place to be an Uber Driver is Birmingham. We hardly got any reports from Liverpool/Manchester. Even with places with a rough reputation like Glasgow - nothing. I think people know to keep their mouths shut and let the driver do his job.

Belfast is upfront price like the UK. No meters fitted 👍

As a Taxi driver in Dublin I can only say I know that FreeNow charges 15% commission, I think that Uber charges 12% commission, there was a news story a few months ago that Uber was not charging VAT which is a applicable to the commission but not the whole fare, this could have left some Uber drivers with a large bill for the unpaid VAT.

There's a meter in the uber app if the ride takes longer than expected traffic or whatever in Belfast

The Irish government might have worked uber out and stopped them ripping drivers off.

Not sure if black cabs in London do the same, I’ve seen Uber advertised on some of them so not sure what that’s all about
@MELIHCINAMOGLUАй бұрын
No, it cannot set the price as it wishes, Uber can clearly see the distance traveled by the customer from point A to point B, and they probably have meters in the background, just like local taxis. If the taxi driver writes the price on the meter, he will probably receive a warning from Uber.

Uber are using local companies give it a year then they will take over if Ireland let them.
