It's just the pythagorean theorem (a^2 + b^2 = c^2) with an extra term. So instead of just a^2 + b^2 = c^2, the law of cosine gives c^2 = a^2 + b^2 - 2ab*cos(q) where q is the angle facing the side c. You can change the letters around to get three different law of cosine equations for each side (just make sure the angle is also changed).

I'm not sure but my guess is that all the levels are the same. Rope swings, sword throws, spike falls. every once in a while you get good levels, but other than that they're the same thing over and over and over again.
