Ubuntu: Connect To Internet With Ethernet Cable Via Command Line

In this Tutorial we will connect to Internet if there is an Ethernet Cable connected to your System with the help of Command Lin`e inside Ubuntu Operating System.
If you want to use WiFi in your Ubuntu System, you do that by going to WiFi Settings and selecting the WiFi you ant to connect to. But for connecting to Ethernet Connection, you need to set the Connection first and then use the Internet from that Connection.
So, in this Tutorial we will be Configuring and Setting Up the Internet Connection using the Command Line In Ubuntu Operating System.

Hi Rohan! Yes no one uses DSL connections nowadays. But the procedure shown in video is relevant for Dial Up and Cable networks. I myself am using Dial Up connection and the procedure worked well with me. You can delete the profile and try again. Hope it Helps!

Hi Saheli! If you mean that you have 2 operating systems (like Windows 8.1 and Ubuntu in your case) working on the same machine, then nothing will happen to your Internet connectivity, it will be totally fine. If you have 2 different systems, and you are using Windows 8.1 in one system and Ubuntu on the other system, then too don't worry your Internet will work fine. If you want Internet on your Windows machine you can connect Ethernet to that, and if you want Internet on you Ubuntu machine you can plug out your Ethernet cable from Windows machine and plug it into your Ubuntu machine. There won't be any connecting issue on both the Operating system, so don't worry. Hope it Helps!

The company you are paying every month to use internet through ethernet cable would have given you a Username and Password to connect to internet. You need to enter that name in the code. Hello ProgramitNOW , In my new system i installed ubuntu 16.04.7. But i am stuck in a problem since 2 days and I troubleshooted a lot but nothing worked. Any help would be appreciated. The issue is i am not able to see any ethernet interface on terminal, only loopback 0 is available. I have wifi at home and connected my system via lan, port is blinking on wifi as well as on system but no eth interface. Below are few outputs which may help you. When i did cd /etc/NetworkManager i can see below files. 1)Conf.d 2)dnsmasq.d 3)NetworkManager.comf 4)VPN 5) dispatcher.d 6)dnsmasq-shared.d 7)system-connections - Sudo nano /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf shows managed to false which i changed to true. Also i did sudo service network-manager restart and rebooted the system but nothing changed Lspci | grep -i network shows 28.00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Device 2723 (rev 1a). And for ethernet it shows 26.00.0 Ethernet controller:Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. Device 8125 (rev 04). When i issued sudo lshw -C network i didnt see any drivers keyword in output. In capabilities i have: pm msi pciexpress msix vpd bus_master cap_list. Does this mean i have drivers missing??? Thanks

Hi Nitesh! First delete the internet profile created. Then open Terminal and run the command given below: sudo iptables -F This should reset you network settings and then restart Ubuntu. Again follow the procedure given in the video and create your internet profile. The most important point for you to know is, the method shown in video works for only PPPOE and DSL broadband connections, so if you have any other broadband connection then this won't work. If you have any issue, do let us know, we'll help you. Hope it Helps!
