Tamejavi Festival
Grand Finale
May 18, 2013
Excerpt from "No Longer Strangers," the culmination of the first Tamejavi Fellowship Cultural Organizing Program held by the Pan Valley Institute
Urban Bush Women BOLD Facilitators Maria Bauman and Marjani Forte worked with Tamejavi Fellowship artists to weave together Urban Bush Women repertory embodying resistance and cultural power (UBW's "Women's Resistance") with the artists' own work that reflects their cultural values. This was the culmination of the Pan Valley Institute's 2013 Tamejavi Festival.
What is Tamejavi?
Tamejavi is a space where diverse cultures converge to express and share stories, music, food, traditions, and ways of interpreting the world. Through cultural exchange and artistic expression, Central Valley immigrants participating in Tamejavi join voices and create new bonds, thus forming a solid sense of community and establishing foundations for active civic engagement.
