Jean-Luc Doumont’s “Teaching is not Learning: Going beyond the traditional Lecture”

A great talk that every teacher should watch. I agree wholeheartedly with everything Jean-Luc says. One thing I would change - Introduction (at 1hr.07). In my classes, I prefer to put the students in pairs and they ask each other these questions. Then they introduce their partner (not themselves) to the class. When people are nervous at the beginning of a course they will be embarrassed talking about themselves, but will find it a lot easier talking about someone else. Doing introductions like this also facilities networking and conversations right at the beginning.

loved this idea of active teaching where teacher's job is to create a safe environment to let students do and discover :)

- Why didn't you use the active learning in your own lecture? - But I need to cover all the material! =)
