These just keep getting better and better. Congratulations Devin! Wear that piece of cloth PROUDLY. During the rolling it seemed like you were a little upset with your performance even though it was objectively incredible. You need to keep in mind that Roy threw a VERY challenging (and fresh) wrecking crew at you - after you demonstrated a couple hundred high-intensity techniques back to back. You showed technical depth, creativity, precision of movement, expansive knowledge, stamina, and HEART. Well done.

The movement is phenomenal. And the guts to do a crucible like this knowing hundreds of thousands will watch it, seeing taps, some of which will have come just from sheer exhaustion after even the demo before rounds. BJJ is the only martial art I’ve seen where the level of skill is vastly different from each belt or rank. It’s also an art that can’t be faked and the belts aren’t handed to the person like a lot of these “McDojo” schools in America today. When you see a person who has a black belt in BJJ you know that dude dedicated his life to the art and definitely put the time in to earn it. I have so much respect for anyone who trains BJJ no matter the rank.
@conorohagan99472 ай бұрын
I am just starting my journey in BJJ and I had the honor of being paired against my instructor (brown belt) for a drill because of odd numbers. He took it very easy on me, but even at (idk half power?) I was completely overwhelmed and humbled. I have never experienced something like that. I exclaimed "holy s***" within 5 seconds and then immediately apologized for my language.

He was doing things that I had not thought of that opened up my mind and get me in better positions. Wow. Near the end I had tears in my eyes because I know what it feels like to be that gassed and out of energy. But he just kept pressing on…even to work through that last heel hook. I can’t even describe the respect for tradition. This was an exceptional task. I hope I get to meet this guy one day. Thanks for filming this.
