Teams have become so good! I watched all the World Cup 2023 games🏆,...and I am soooo happy about how much the game has improved! Teams like Portugal, or Colombia, or Australia, have made such great improvements in their game. Also, Brazil, Sweden, Netherlands, England, Spain, Japan...all of them were already good and now they are even better! the level is insane! Make me love football even more! 😍⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽

The truth is Carli Lloyd generation played in the era when the rest of the world was under funded and amateur or semi-pro and they could win by just being fitter than the other teams. No of the previous USWNT would h e been good to win the last World Cup, since the rest of the world has become fully professional and taken the women’s game into a near era of tactical sophistication and technical play. US are not winning because they re not hungry, it just that rest of the world has closed and surpassed the USA title 9 50 year head start in just 3 years of becoming professional. Irony being now the USA has the highest paid women’s players in the world, when the rest of the world has surpassed the, on the field and will struggle to win another World Cup again, while being paid equal pay they lied to media to gaslight the USA soccer federation into paying them more based of lies.

Surpassed ? I don’t think so. Usa just needs the right coach and they are back in the swing of things even if they world has “ caught up” . People act like USA has hit its peak and can’t improve with the players they have coming up . Sky’s the limit as long as the whole us women’s soccer federation fixes improvement specially in the under 17,90, 20 year old age group teams and of course the main team being better as well

On some of these longer versions the three guys just stop believing, especially where she says the coaches would not allow her to do extra fitness. She had to use google maps to find a patch of grass to get in some extra running at night. She warned Vlatko when he got the job that she was being straight with him that she wanted to do extra work as if Vlatko would be against her doing extra running.

Carli is in her revenge tour against Morgan and Rapinoe who were the stars of the 2019 WC team. Their play in 2019 kept her on the bench. Carli's opinion of her skills was always greater than the opinions of Jill Ellis' and her fellow coaches. Carli had one exceptional game in the 2015 title run and never came close to repeating that magic in the succeeding years..... certainly not in the 2016 Olympics wher she was a non-factor. As the competition got faster, her lack of speed was apparent to all and the other teams ran circles around her.

Nothing like hard times to bring out one's true character. She (and many others) is too angry to understand that there is no real gap between the USWNT and many of the top teams anymore. That era is DONE lady. It was good while it lasted but it gone. The USWNT did not get knocked out because they were not good...other teams were simpler better. It is delusional to expect to win every world cup. The vitriol needs to go and the re-building begin.

Until recently, the US was the only country that took women's soccer seriously. Now that's changed. The rest of the world has caught up. This is why they lost. Putting this solely on the USWNT for dropping the ball is disingenous, and insulting to all the other countries that have seriously upped their game. Carli Lloyd ended her career just as this shift in the landscape was taking place. She's used to playing in an era without any real competition. Now she wants to trash the current team that doesn't have the same luxury that she did. Going forward, even if they perform at their peak, the best the USWNT can hope for is to be one among a bunch of contenders for each title, similar to what Brazil is in the men's game. But the days of USWNT trouncing countries like Thailand 13-0 are long gone now. The era of their domination, of being guaranteed to win every title, is over. But Carli Lloyd doesn't want to acknowledge that. She just wants to sit on her high horse and trash the next generation all because she was lucky enough to be playing when things were easier in a bygone era.

Not even remotely close to accurate. Other countries have had serious women's football. It struggled to survive though because it didn't have the academy support that US soccer had because we had Title IX and college teams. Despite that, other teams always rivaled the US, but it would only be one or two teams at a time. The USWNT had the USWL to feed it. The best players in the world would playin the USWL. Now, the USWL is behind the mark, because the best players play overseas now. The infrastructure is maturing overseas and irons sharpen irons. Where have the American players gone though? They stayed behind in their league where it was comfortable and safe for the most part. Since the last world cup, who has tried to play overseas? Alex Morgan tried to play in England. Tobin Heath tried to play in England. But neither elevated while overseas and came back to the US, the retirement league. Instead of focusing on the game and feeling like the underdog, the team took on a more activist role and embraced a different attitude that wasn't earned. Carli Lloyd played during that shift and during the years of Japan being good, brazil being good, Germany being good, etc. The difference is she was considered the best of her generation and fought like she was the worst. She always had fight in her. The current team doesn't have that underdog fight in them. They just have the exceptionalism they didn't earn. It's exemplified by Megan Rapinoe as well, because she can't tell how much she's fallen off the pace of the world game and yet she was criticizing the coaching staff in the media and not acknowledging her failures. She exemplifies their entitlement. Never pushed herself to compete with the Mediemas, the Kerrs, the Popps, or any number of better female players. She went overseas to France when their league was weaker to chase the money. Then came back to the easier competition to chase the money. She played in 3 World Cups after that change back to the US. This USWNT was a team you rooted against because of their arrogance. And I hate saying that. I loved cheering for this team under Abby Wambach and Carli Lloyd. Pia was their best coach. They were elevating the game back then. Now, I don't think a single one of them is. I look to the woman in England and Germany and Spain. Spain, holy hell, that team had every single reason to stumble and fail. Took the whole damn tournament. But every other team on that pitch had a better skillset. The USWNT looked like they were only physically better, not technically. No. This USWNT deserves the dressing down they got and worse. Similar to how the USMNT needed it after they failed to qualify.

@@nicklikethesoup even back in their best days Pia was playing a really cautious brand of soccer and the team frequently succumbed to high crosses for Abby Wambach when all else failed. Had this USWNT had a tall athletic bulldozer of a striker they might have still found a way despite the lack of pure technique on the ball or a free flowing football just like in 2011.

I 100% agree with your comment. Lloyd played against underfunded opponents who were either amateur or semi-professional and the USA won just by being fitter and more athletic. Those days are long gone now that traditional soccer nations have started to fund their female programs and now not only can they match the USA for fitness, but are superior tactically and technically. Not one of the previous US World Cup teams would have won this last World Cup. The USWNT is now in a precarious moment, because they have built their brand off domination and making Americans buy into the American exceptionism myth. Now the rest world is taking women’s soccer seriously, the USWNT are not likely to win a World Cup for a very long time, because Europe is only at the start of their fully professional era and will only get stronger and stronger. Will the sponsorship and media attention still be there for them, when they are not winning world cups? Of course not and it will start to look bad that USWNT will be the highest paid team in women’s soccer, without being a contender.
