Shish kabob skewers work great and are multipurpose also very light.

great idea.. love my flatpack grill.... I did take a piece of rod about 4" longer then the grill and 2.5" in from each end put a bend about 20 degrees or so to drop into bottom of grill to hold the sides out... I found it a pain to slide the grill back on base after I got a wood fire going.. the side/end plates want to fold in on there own...

DC - if you've suffered the choked out camp fires in the UCO grill as well: the mod of drilling holes in the side panels helps a lot. I drilled 5 holes into each long side. - 3 spaced level to the leg weld with middle hole at bottom of shield emblem and left and right being approx middle distance between shield point and leg plate -2 holes on side of shield emblem approx aligned with being in the middle of bottom side and bottom center holes O O _O_O_O_ For those wanting a visual reference that are reading along.

I made myself an emergency stove several years ago using a metal cake pan, a grill rack and four homemade alcohol burners. It was sturdy enough to hold a twenty-inch cast iron camp skillet. It would have been much too heavy to carry all that gear for hike or camping trip, but it was great for times when the power was out for several days.

Ive a few pack stoves , aochol burners and a gas burner like that I keep in the pickup . Coffee kit , that skillet, 64 and 120 bushpots . Bottle water , drink mixes , spam , pork n beans, such , dish soap , ive used it to bathe in if I need it , generally I carry bar soap under the seat , makes the pickup smell good . Fishing gear , wild meat gathering system too ! Lots of times I'm out before daylight and after dark, going to and from doctors or hospitals. Pillows sleeping bags pads . Full sized pickup can sleep in back seat

Here is another of Dave's "find more than one use for something". Does the two different fuel choices count for two uses? Neat trick Dave, I just love it when you do something like this. My favorite still is the "SPRING POLE fire bow". ;-)

Thank you👍. Too, couldn’t you use a tree branch carved down to diameter to fit in holes & cut in 2 so proper lengths. And wha la !!! … free bush-crafty solution. (There wouldn’t be enough heat below the flames to cause wood supports to burn.)

Dave, is there any way you can turn that grill on its side and use it as a reflector oven? I know the sides would tend to collapse in, but maybe just jam a stick in the bottom lengthwise to keep it from doing that.
