I've had good service from mine, and I agree with you that all the UCO products are well-designed and well-made. I often solo overnight in a state forest (in a hammock), and I love dusk, so I don't use the white light on my headlamp, and my only light comes from a fire (often from the Flatpack) and a UCO candle lantern. My eyes adjust after about 45 minutes, and I can see so much more at night with my pupils dilated, so I love the candle lantern; it's all I need. Their firestarters are also excellent, and I keep some in my kit in case I encounter really bad weather where a ferro rod is tedious. Thank you, and happy camping.

How much does the big grill weigh? I'm wondering if it's compatible with ultra light back packing gear. Obviously there are trade offs when carrying a steel grill, but freeze dried foods get old really quick, especially when you have the opportunity to fish the local steams.
@JunkyardFox6 жыл бұрын
im not exact on the weight but it feels like 3 pounds around there. theres a smaller version. il be honest, i cannot stand freeze dried foods. i need at least some ramen packs or at least a few potatoes, so this grill comes in very handy.

My wife say's that I Never use "almost anything" for what they are suppose to be used for!! I see making 2 Chains with a small hook like they use for making a "Hanging Planter" on each end of each chain. On each side Hook the chain over the edge of the the grill. Wrap the chain around each leg and place the other hook over the other side. This will prevent the stove from folding up. By the Side Hinge Drill 2 holes close to hinge. One near the top where the grill sits. The Other down lower about 1 1/2" from the bottom of the grill. Take something like a "Wire Coat Hanger or Welding Rod" running across the open grill to act as a Rack Support so you can lay the Grill on it's side and use it as a "Reflector Oven". They Work Best with Shiny Metal so you may need to add a Cookie Sheet, cut into 2 pieces or Foil to line the "Oven" to get the Best Performance out of it as an Oven.

Me thinks because I use wood a lot also there needs to be either a flip top grill or a large hole to add more fuel without having to remove the grill top completely for easier addition of fuel...we all know wood random from nature just doesn't hold the coals long like charcoal...but for a one time cooking of meats this seems well made. And, I too would just use it every day at home for convenience because it looks like a really convenient grill quick to use.
@JunkyardFox6 жыл бұрын
i completely agree, ive had issue with past stoves and grills trying to keep the fuel going but this one is easy becasue you just use those tongs to lift the grill and add more wood then quickly put the grill back.
