HEY WALKER!! what are we doing today....MISSING YOU!! SITTING HERE CRYING...GONE FAR TO SOON BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN. you inspired me to get several pieces of gear and get outdoors. R I P SIR......I heard what happened from. REALLY BIG MONKEY....did not want to believe it was true...I have purchased both the large like yours and the mini. Love them
@davidgilmore47315 жыл бұрын
Love mine. I cut a piece of expanded metal screen (heavy duty stuff) to fit in the inside bottom; fits in the pouch and does not add much weight at all. Creates air flow under the fuel which makes a much better burn. Plus I cut it long enough to keep the ends splayed out making it easier to install and remove the grill....now it drops right into place. Cost like $6 for a sheet of it at your home center.

Just tried out the mini today. I love it. So easy to clean up and pack away in my pack. Worked great w/wood and I later added four charcoal briquettes to have heat w/out flame to cook over. Again, couldn't be happier. Room for two large burgers and a dog. Perfect size for one or two. The firebox is large enough to throw off a lot of heat in the winter....better than the 3 or 5 inch uprights ie..firebox etal. I have and love them, too! Very easy to lift grill screen w/the supplied tool and replace. I use the bubble wrap envelope it came in to carry it in my pack. Although the cloth case is great too. Even the box containing the item has a great little plastic handle on it. Great all around!!! Thanks for the tip!

How is it holding up as a fire pit? Is the stainless steel durable for many fire pit sessions?
@SushilRam775 жыл бұрын
@@surfthestreets86 It works good with duralong (burns for over 4 hours) or any other wood but removing the grate takes away the rigidity. I wish it had a way to lift part of the grate to add wood and allow it to maintain it shape. Overall it a great firepit to keep in your vehicle for emergency and camping.

This is where my Winnerwell fastfold titanium tent stove excels. Leave the top part off, and drop a pack grill on top. Still easily load wood with the door, and it meets fire restrictions requirements when camping during burn bans.

Nice fire pit. For deep snow you could tie a couple of 1” dia sticks about 3 or 4 ft long to the legs and that thing would just sit on top of the fresh powder snow. I think I would change the tongs to something a bit better. Great to stash in the truck.
@MegaWoodswalker5 жыл бұрын
The tongs were made to help put the grill plate on and off when hot. So there are compromises. Some flotation will probable be needed for a snow base for sure IMO. Thanks for watching!
@darthkek19535 жыл бұрын
That battoning knife looks amazing, thanks for the idea of it. Cheap too. NOTHING wrong with using firestarters. We've had three days of rain here - including flood warnings - and I went out and used my twig stove. Nothing but wet wood around. I used a tiny (for me, normal) amount of firestarter and it fizzled out. So a bit more and it got the fire going enough I could put wet wood in and it would dry it out and burn it. So I got my noodles and my espresso. To HELL with bushcrafting on a day like today!

I wonder if the manufacturer had left one side of the fire pit area about 8” longer than the other if it would reflect heat from that side better so you could make it directional? This stove has at least one major/dangerous flaw, when lifting the grill off, the hinges at each end of the the grill tend to buckle inward, making it extremely difficult/ dangerous to put the grill back on when there is a bed of coal in the bottom. I have solved this issue by weaving a flat piece of brazing rod through the two lower holes on each end, this keeps that heart shaped hinge from folding in on itself, the cooking grid/grill lifts up and off and more importantly it drops on without struggling. I am working on a way to lock the open.
