I hope to see successful contributions from AZZI this year! She is exciting to watch!

Don't forget Aubrey when we add her into the line up after she recovers. I agree completely, the bigs need to come through. I'm really curious about what the rotation will be once the season is underway

The obvious, Paige must remain healthy. And, if the team is rolling along during the season, UCONN has enough backcourt depth so Paige doesn't have to play an enormous amount of minutes. And, don't look for Paige to score at an outrageous pace. She will if she has to but she will take full advantage of a squad that can put the ball in the basket. There are lots of players on this team who need to have significant playing time and if Geno doesn't just depend on a couple of players utilizing all his options will be a major strength for the team. But, after saying all of that, protecting the basket and being a force off the boards is very necessary and who will be the major contributor? The answer is "unknown" right now and we won't find out until the games begin. We certainly don't want them to have to score 100 points a game to win. What will be exciting to watch is Paige, KK and Griffin flying up and down the court nonstop and causing havoc for the opponent!

Sweet Caroline and amazing Azzi will be back with a vengeance. Don't forget about Patterson, El Alfy, and Griffin who were injured last season. These lady dawgs will be back to prove themselves once again that UCONN is the team to beat.

Another great show Phil & Ry. I agree that UCONN has a great opportunity to win another NCAA. If the veteran players stay healthy and KK, Ashlyn, & Ice continue their play and if the new Freshman(women) contribute UCONN could go undefeated. Let's hope the referees call all fouls to stop the bullies in the NCAA.

Thanks for this video, guys. I didn't expect it. I was surprised to see it when I turned on the HP this morning. I'm with you. I think that UCONN is a monster this year if Jana stays healthy and has a big year. I am a Paige fanatic, but I give Edwards the credit for last year's success. Thanks again for this video. Go Huskies!!

Starting lineup - calling it now (1 big surprise): Chen / Bueckers / El Alfy / Cheli / Strong Cheli is 6'2", versatile, smart and does everything well. Fudd, Griffin, Arnold off bench immediately. Shade & Ziebell play a lot. Brady spells at the post position. Ducharme & Patterson & Samuels will play sparingly. If El Alfy can hold the fort down low for 28 minutes per game, UConn wins a natty.

I know that the game is moving toward being "positionless", but having more consistent offensive production from what traditionally are thought of as the 4 and 5 positions will be key. ORBs/2nd chance points wear teams down.

I consider it to be a dead heat between 1) Avoiding key injuries, and 2) The inexperienced bigs developing into a competitive frontcourt.

I said it before and I’m going to say it again. UCONN will win if we have Azzi, Page and Strong for that triangle. Other pieces can move around but those three can get it done. I’ll even through it Jenna to get them rebounds!!! The bench will play well no matter what because they’re talented.

Regarding the South Carolina game. It is in South Carolina because it is a make up game from the Covid year. UConn and South Carolina canceled their game that year so that UConn could reschedule a big east game. That is why this game is in South Carolina.
@AnthonyTomassi-y6j3 ай бұрын
I do believe you are wrong the game was cancelled by coach Staley reason givin was she wanted to concentrate on her conference schedule. I could be wrong but I know for sure she cancelled 1 match up for this game might not have been this one.

A healthy squad will give them a shot..chemistry and coaching has to be encouraging and well executed..and big time bucket gets need to happen in big time moments.. I believe they have the arsenal..curious to see Strong and El Alfy play..and would love to see Azzi, Aubrey and Caroline stay healthy all season

IF a winning, efficient lineup can be discovered early, with care and less injuries…UCONN will have the talent to win a championship this season! We need another title. BUT it is tough with all the new talent appearing in college women’s basketball!

I suspect ElAlfy will play a major role for the Huskies this season.

A lot has to do with health. I Patterson was a great high school ball player, she has to come into her own. Also Ice has to be consistent.Jenna we just have to wait and see from what I understand and see. It’s a very hard transition from high school to college just like college to the W. even Sarah strong was great in high school if we can get half of her At the start of the season I’m sure Azzi, Griffin aren’t gonna be ready

Uconn might have the best scoring team they have had since their last championship. Should have more 100 point games then they have had for some time

Top four things that need to happen (in order of importance) : - No season-ending injuries (broken noses, twisted ankles, bumps, bruises, etc. will be okay), - Jana El Alfy needs to consistently provide a double-double. She has to replace most of Aaliyah's production. I guess this could be done by "a committee" of Brady, Caroline, Aubrey, and Strong, but it would be easier to be able to count on one player to provide the team most of what we got from Aaliyah. - Paige needs to be less selfless - especially in big games. If I were Geno, I'd be telling Paige that I want 25 pts. a game from her during the regular season and then 30 pts. per game once tournaments start. I'd be harping on the idea that she doesn't want to be known as the best UConn women's player to NOT win a national championship. - Decent production from the support players. We need about 15 pts. and 5-7 rebounds from the bench per game. The starters should provide the rest that we need. Get in there, play your 5-12 minutes, DO YOUR JOB, and bring your energy. The defense will be there. The ball movement will be there. The bench should be deep enough that foul trouble shouldn't be an issue. Take care of the damn ball and hit your shots in the paint. Don't blow any bunnies.

Uconn wins the Natty if: The returning injured players comeback to their old forms. Uconn will start the season in a bit of a mess, with 5 injury returnees and 3 freshmen, but they will at least have a reliable core in Bueckers, Shade, Arnold, Chen, and Brady. Much like last season when the team struggled to reintegrate Paige while simultaneously losing players to injury, I wouldn't be surprised if this team lost a few in November and December.

UCONN women's basketball team will win a championship if they are the number one seed or the overall number one seed ,the strong teams that maybe a threat have to weaken at some point . The injuries would have to be to a minimum.

Jana MIGHT be good but when have 3 or 4 olpost players her equal it hard to imagine she going to make a difference you don't have to be an expert to know that

The key to UConn winning the national championship is how well they step up on defense. If players on the roster are close in talent playing offense, the better defensive player will start. Will they have a great defensive player this year? Sadly, If they all stay healthy many players will leave for the transfer portal…imho…😢❤😢
@michaeln30443 ай бұрын
If they are healthy. That’s it. End of analysis. They about to stomp everyone and it’s not gonna be close.

ok Noah Lyles. Get to the start of the season without a significant injury first. The only team that's semi capable of beating the Gamecocks is the other USC. Not UCONN. We wanted Sarah true. But it would have been unfair. Joyce Edwards is every bit as good if not better except shooting 3s. Paige is great but no one else scares us. Our 2nd lineup is better than yall starters. Fulwiley, Tessa Johnson, Ashlyn Swatkins , Joyce Edwards, Maryam Dauda

This is a big question that no one can answer right now. Having said that, we all know that winning National Championships is what UCONN is all about. That is their focus. That has always been their focus. We CT residents who are UCONN fans (of both teams) expect both teams to win National Championships.

El alfy and strong have to be really good and really reliable. Paige and Azzi have to be healthy. And that still won’t be enough. USC and South Carolina are strong. UConn need some things to go wrong with those two. USC doesn’t gel. USC struggles with the big 10 travel. Those teams pick up a significant injury or two. Those are the sort of things that need to happen to tip the scale in UConn’s favor,

Ugh... how do I respond to this video and not write a novel? Hmmmmm Aaliyah - In my opinion the biggest loss is Aaliyah Edwards. It will be very hard for the upcoming freshman to immediately produce the output that she supplied game in and game out. There is going to be a learning curve that us fans are just going to have to be patient with. Nika - As great as Nika was, you can replace her with scorers. Yes, we will lose the leadership and defense at first, but having reliable mid-range and 3 point shooters would do wonders for this team. From a technical/personnel perspective, this can be viewed as a rebuilding year....with one exception: We can win it all if Paige plays selfishly. To win a championship this year, she can't afford to be both coach and player with a side order of cheerleader. She needs to be primal and take over this league like we all know she can. THAT is how we win. It's time for the rest of this team to grow up and start pulling their weight. Peace, Fellas!
@TheDisruptiveOne3 ай бұрын
KK can potentially replace the defense provided by Nika. It’s unfair to expect any of the bigs to replace what Aaliyah provided. And we still haven’t replaced dorka imo either. On paper, the front court is a real mystery.

Uconn will be weak in post play they will need a good draw in tournament to win national championship, thier guards can play with anyone

I don’t get why all you experts think Jana will not make a huge difference in the post. She has only been dominate at every level and she is not a first year just coming out of high school. She has been 2 yrs being able to learn the system. We will see

The vet's have to bring up the freshmen to try to get the best out of them. Leadership is critical and so is team chemistry and I think UConn has both. 🏀⛹🤾
