Just took home the 2024 Summit with night vision, MacIntosh stereo, air suspension, etc. Truly amazing luxury SUV. They had a 10% discount right off the top and I was able to negotiate additional discounts. I had a 2019 WK2 Grand Cherokee is it has been a very good car. Giving it to my daughter (lucky her). The 2024 Summit is on a whole different level of luxury (and price!). It's super quiet and the interior is stunning. Still getting it set up and this video is very helpful.

Always like to hear when people get great deals, nicely done! It's pretty crazy how loaded the Summit trim of the Grand Cherokee is. Do you find the tech switch pretty straight forward from the old one?

@@CarsWithSteve I've been watching many videos on the tech including yours and ones provided by Fiat/Chrysler. I recommend anyone who buys this vehicle to spend some time to learn it before using the system. The Dealership should also be able to help. It's complex but at the same time it's not. Once set up it's very straight forward. I was testing the Driver Assist yesterday. It's different from Lane Assist as Driver Assist uses radar for semi-autonomous driving to keep the car between the lines on the highway or even a regular city street. It works surprisingly well as does Lane Assist. I'm a tech guy. I founded and ran a tech company for 19 years so I love how tech rich this vehicle is and how it allows the customer to completely customize it to each individual's preferences. My wife on the other hand is the polar opposite. I set it all up and show her how to use it. Lol She really likes it.

Hit the nail on the head there.. If you're spending tens of thousands on a car it's probably good to take a few hours and learn how to actually use it! That's the reason why I started the channel.. trying to make understanding these things easier for people. Always good to hear when people actually appreciate the tech. Hope the new ride treats you well!

Thanks Steve. But if you recall, I recently watched your "2021 GC" guide on that uConnect. Well I definitely have a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee WK Limited 4x4. I bought it new in very early May 2022, (I thought I bought it in June, but I was wrong). Anyway, I have the "uConnect 4" as shown in the MFR "Interior Features" list that I copied here: "Uconnect®4C NAV with 8.4-Inch Touch Screen Display". Therefore, I think I would be better matched with the 2021 GC uConnect Video because I don't have anything like what you're demonstrating in this video. However, I'm rather disappointed (to a small extent) because it seems that Jeep could probably update the software in my uConnect system to meet the version 5, no? It's not really a big deal to me that they haven't done that and there may be hardware-related reasons. My experience in building my own desktops makes it easier for me to understand why they maybe couldn't make a wireless upgrade on an existing system, (for example; the presently installed CPU & RAM in my unit, plus limited ROM etc., etc.). But most manufactures in the technology field of any device, usually have these 'next-model equipment & features' already off the drawing-board and figured it out 2 years ahead of the latest released version. So, I think they could've arranged it if they wanted to. Thanks again, Rich
@CarsWithSteve

Hey Rich, the screen unfortunately can’t be upgraded from 4 to 5 through software as there’s different underlying hardware in the screens too. Now that I think of it this video was shot on a GC L which was new in 2022 and the rest of the GC lineup got it in 2023 Hopefully that last video at least gave you enough to work with!

@@CarsWithSteve Thanks Steve! Yes, I did notice some differences in the later version of 2022 GC 4x4 that had to do with a few other included vehicle features and not just the uConnect. I really like this Jeep but I have discovered a problem that is intermittent and therefore difficult to have repaired. The problem is caused by an apparent faulty Ambient OAT sensor in the front of the vehicle. -(If you have a minute, you can read the details below. Perhaps you may have a suggestion or maybe you know of this issue and can direct me): I found out about this OAT Sensor when I drove the Jeep to a very reliable auto repair shop just across the street from me. I was able to have them do an system analysis on the Jeep while the failures were all present, (no work was done because the Jeep is still under warranty). I paid about $140.00 for the analysis but it was worth it because the nearest Jeep dealership wouldn't have accepted the vehicle and checked it soon enough and before the systems reset and cleared up. The auto shop across the street found that the issue falls on the Ambient Outside Temperature Sensor, (OAT/AOAT). I've concluded that these failures will suddenly occur every time there's an abrupt change in the outside temperature and/or the barometric pressure. When it happens, the failure alert icon-lights include (but aren't limited to) the "CHECK ENGINE" "4W-Dr", disabled Stabilization systems, loss of the instrument temp indicator, auto-start systems, and more. I live in Houston and this OAT failure happened again most recently on 01-08-24 @ about 2:30 PM. We had a steady 3 weeks of average 55/60 daytime temps and 45/50 nighttime temps (with sunny, mild weather). Then, on 1-8-24 at about 1:30 PM, we had a sudden increase temperature from about 55F degrees and jumped to 77F in less than 2 hours. In addition, the weather abruptly changed from mild & sunny, to stormy & rain (Barometer drop). Keep in mind that all these changes occurred in less than 2 hours, (a more accurate guess may be 1.5 hours). That was on 1-8-24 but on 11-30-2023, the exact same thing happened but in the 'opposite direction'! In that event, Houston had average temps of around 80F with relatively cloudy weather for at least 4 days in a row. Then, around 1 AM on the early morning of 11-30-23, the weather cleared and the temps plummeted to about 50F. In each event, the same alerts and icon lights were triggered by the OAT sensor. In the 11-30-24 event, the weather and temperatures remained cold until 12-01-23. The temps then slowly rose to about 60/65F. That's when the alerts and icon lights went out and everything was back to normal. In this most recent event, (where the temps jumped from 45/50 to 73/78F), the temperature made a gradual change back down to 55/60F by the afternoon of the next day, (1-9-24). As a result, all the alerts and icon lights went out and returned to normal. Even as I write this comment, last night, (1-12-24), the temps made another rapid drop along with a sharp change in weather and then, late this afternoon, the temps rose again and the weather cleared. I was afraid to check and see if the OAT triggered another failure so I haven't even tried to start the Jeep yet, LOL. What I really want is to ask the dealership to replace the OAT sensor even though they don't find anything wrong with it. However, I doubt they'd do that without their own analysis and the only way they could do that is to accept and check the vehicle as soon as I drive in to their shop when the alerts are present. My other choice is to trade the Jeep in for another GC but the Jeep I have, has less than 1965 miles on it. So far, I haven't really found anyone with a similar issue nor have I found an alternative solution other than to wait until the weather and temperature gradually changes and allows the OAT sensor to reset. Rich

There are a few forum mentions of people running into somewhat similar issues but no fix that they've been able to find. Such an odd issue that you're having but I'd try to find a way to document it - take a video of the warning messages that you're getting. It could also be worth getting an OBD2 reader to figure out what codes are being spit out when it happens
@richpaul8132

@@CarsWithSteve Thanks Steve! Very good suggestions! In fact, I do have pictures of the instrument panel when this happened the first time and I have a receipt from the Auto Shop that did the analysis. I'll have to find it and if the code isn't noted on the receipt, I think the auto shop may have it noted in their records because it wasn't very long ago. In addition, the Auto shop quoted me about $320 to do the OAT replacement job. I would've jumped on it but I was afraid that I could void coverage for all other warrantied parts of the Jeep. Thanks again for the suggestion, I should've thought of that myself. Rich

The sensor issue should be covered under the manufacturers warranty so next time the issue happens, take pics, scan and then have the do a warranty fix. If you keep bugging the dealer it's at least documented

Same exact issue with my 2022 Compass High Altitude. 2020 map installed, it’s supposed to “update over the air”. But only ever says can’t connect to server, neither Jeep, Uconnect, TomTom or Sirius claim to have any responsibility for this and it’s been extremely frustrating. I love the Uconnect 5 system but so many of the highway exit numbers and business addresses are wrong since the maps are almost 3 years old in a brand new 2022 Jeep. HERE maps stopped being in charge of the Uconnect maps in 2021 so the new 2022 models are SOL at the moment.

I'm here to say that this uConnect 5 is one big PITA! I have a 2022 Dodge Charger Scat and love the uConnect 4 in that thing. Newer is not always better. We just bought a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, and I'm finding its uConnect 5 to be a bear to navigate through. The best example is the lack of a back button when you are going through it. Make a choice you don't want and you have to go back to home screen. I believe a room, filled with keyboards and programming monkeys, came up with this design. Avoid it at all cost, if you can. And it's not just me. My wife has 2 smartphones and 3 computers and she talked about returning to the dealership to have the salesman help her with it.
@CarsWithSteve
@CarsWithSteve Жыл бұрын
There aren't really many sub-screens that would require a back button in uConnect5 but when there is the back button will be on the top left just underneath the climate control. If it's a pop-up screen there will be an 'X' on the top right. uConnect 4 is a bit easier to move through but honestly I think with a bit more time spent with the screen you'll get the hang of it. Have your wife watch this video if she hasn't already so that she can get the hang of the features too!

@@CarsWithSteve Thank you for your video and your response. We're boomers and frustration sucks as you get older. I just finish setting the position #1 for the seats for my wife. The salesman did it with the engine running. To set them, the ignition has to be in "run position" but not with the engine running. It's the same on my Scat Pack. So even the salesman is full of beans.

@AStanton1966
@AStanton1966 Жыл бұрын
@@CarsWithSteve Yes. My first Charger. I got into the cars game late. I first bought a new 2017 leftover Mustang V-6. Then I got tired of saying it was only a V-6. So I traded that for a new 2020 Mustang GT 5.0. But the lack of space and its plastic oil pan were turn offs for me. So I traded the Mustang for a 2022 Charger Scat Smoke Show last September. I couldn't be happier. I got room for stuff and that car rips. I put a cat-back MBRP street exhaust on it and man, the cold starts wake the dead! I stopped at the Dodge dealer today to get new floor mats for the Jeep. And the Charger proved its worth. Those mats were in about a 5-foot box and went right back into the seat like butter. I was thinking, how would I have taken those mats home if I still had the Mustang?
@CarsWithSteve
@CarsWithSteve Жыл бұрын
I hear from people all the time going for the older V6 Mustang or the 2.3L EcoBoost that switched up to the 5.0L within a year or two. I've come to appreciate the Charger for the 4 doors, interior space and the available power so I'm a bit disappointed that Dodge is axing it after the 2023 model year. Just watched a video on the MBRP on a Charger and it sounds impressive.. Let me know if you end up uploading a video on your channel with yours!
