I am amazed that there was not one mention of Kerry Bascom, UCONN's women's first All American and the player that took the team to its first final four

I too was surprised by the lack of mention, also because on other occasions coach Auriemma had said how Kerry Bascom was UConn's first big acquisition

I was never a big basketball fan before '95. I watched some men's basketball on TV and liked it for a while, then I stopped watching. (Men's teams in general, like pro teams and some college, not specifically UConn's team). In 1995, I started noticing in the paper that the UConn women's team kept winning. They would plaster the men's team on the front page even if they lost and they put the women's team in some blurb on a mid-page in the sports section even though they had won. I noticed that my local PBS station was playing these women's games and thought I'd check them out, out of curiosity. I liked watching them. I liked the way the channel presented the team. One could get to know them, and I liked the way the game was presented. So I started watching every game - the names Lobo, Rizotti, Sales, Elliot, Berube and Wolters were becoming very familiar to me. Then I never missed a televised game. Any game that wasn't, I'd listen to on the radio. And the paper started putting the women front and center, too. I've been a UConn women's fan ever since. Jen Rizzotti was one of the most fun players to watch. Her, then later Diana Taurasi and Maya Moore.

Why? He has Paige. Trust - he doesn’t regret it & it also allowed CC to forge her own path & strengths. It worked out for everyone.
