Had a senior NCO once tell me that, "for as much hate as UCP gets, it's actually very effective in an Alpine environment with woods and snow." I believed him, certainly, but I couldn't visualize it. This video supplies the missing picture I couldn't quite form in my mind. Thanks for making this helpful content, the time and effort you put in to these videos is very gratefully appreciated. 🙏🏻

Obviously when up close you can make someone out…but put 20 yards of distance and some underlying brush it fairs very well. Thanks for the feedback my friend! Take care!

@@NorthwestScout Looking at this again since winter is here. When you stop moving you disappear. If there's any giveaway it's the white watch cap - it's a bit TOO white. We need to find you a cover more aligned with shadow + snow ... "hello, Arktis??" 📞

UCP blended pretty well in that environment, I still like the UCP, it’s a camo meant for Urban/mountain rock/ sniping skyscrapers type of camo. The gray was meant to be URBAN COMBAT.

Very good points! Thanks!

UCP is massively underrated IMO. In urban environments and rocky terrains, it works well too. It's also good in northern climate where its always gray 6 months per year. Not to mention, the market is flooded with UCP and they're giving them away. You can get high quality, flame resistant, NIR compliant gear for dirt cheap.

For a cheap winter effective camouflage it works well. Definitely a plus that there is readily available kit out there. Even if one does not use it, it’s good to have for that just incase environment.

it’s basically an urban marpat

Little bit of snow on some rocky mossy ground, makes it a viable winter alternative. Have a great day.

When I was deployed mIxing my OD green pouches and ucp that was somewhat broken in and dirty helped blend to the urban/ desert environment. It also was effective in eastern Washington or ntc in California where it was rocky and had sage brush. Good video.

That’s good info to hear. It’s a pattern that has good use, but the environment must be chosen wisely. Great comment and thanks for sharing some of your experience!

@@NorthwestScoutanytime brother. I think people forget camouflage works great but works better when you combine different patterns along with it. Even in the woods up here in Washington I was able to conceal our positions by rubbing some foliage/ dirt on it and adding foliage to it. Have to utilize the environment as well.

This was my idea for use in a winter environment, have been trying to find out ways to bleach or lighten the material for winter use, but in SW Ohio, we don't get much snow, our environment is similar to what's in this video, but I had a gentleman that worked at Quantico, saying they just wore they coyote tan..
@NorthwestScout2 ай бұрын
A tan pants with a UCP top might work too. Pants blend with the ground and the UCP with the trees

Just purchased last weekend two new Air force UCP tops, and two new Army UCP, two pair of very good condition Army UCP pants.

@@robertlegacy7508 yeah but you have to understand 90% if not more of military operations in conducted at night so blending in with NIR is a must, its not bad in desert, great in modern urban, mountain tops and does good in thick tree canopy where its dark or sun to its back, its way better then given credit for, does it suck with a green background? sure does but in green areas with concealment everywhere you can be wearing orange and not be seen, its also good in arctic or snow areas, is it perfect? no obviously not, I use it as an urban night vision camo, in my night vision tests using white phosphorus, GEN three it easily outperformed everything else
@Cyan_Nightingale2 ай бұрын
Yep. What a waste of money. I can see the effectiveness of UCP in Urban-Desert area during the US Army duty in Iraq & I saw UCP performance during winter in Joint Exercise - Allied Spirit.. but it stands out like a sore thumb in forest & generally green area.
