UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital nurse Amy Gubser became the first person to swim from the Golden Gate Bridge to the Farallon Islands. It took her 17 hours to swim 29.7 miles through the frigid, shark-infested waters. To get through some very cold patches, the 55-year-old thought of the many patients she has cared for over the years.
