I love this...especially making it fun, I got to UCT in 1998 doing Computer Science (BS) without ever touching a computer, it was a difficult time, going over the language barrier (English) before even doing Computer Science the coding. I am a Vet now, its a miracle what I have achieved. If I had more support and access to resources and more mentorship it would not have been as difficult. I love this channel and I think I will try to spend more time and help in answering some of the questions young people have. Oh, and Girls who Code, Rock!

Hello there, I'm a 17 year old student, I'm graduating next year, and I'm gonna be 18 too, so my parents want me to get into South Africa for university. University of Cape town seems to be a very lovely and perfect place to start with for a bachelor's degree. So I wanna know what kinds of grades do they expect? And any other advice than can help in getting in more will help a lot, thanks!

Excellent grades especially if you are an international student. I had 1 B on my report and I didn’t get into my first choice but I got in after my first year in a related program. Great 👍🏾 uni

Great tips, I have one small question that's been on my mind maybe you can enlighten me. How much math is there in the UCT Computer Science program? (I know the curriculum might have changed so you can answer for how it was when you were taking the program) EDIT: I got my answer from watching more of your videos👍

Great tips :). Do you also have any advice for those learning to code outside of a university structure, like using online resources only?
@SunshineinMyCode5 жыл бұрын
Kgotso Koete that’s a good idea. I will speak to some people and see if I can collaborate with some self taught developers🌻

Hello Makarina It really depends on what you are working, some work places will require you to know deep things and others won't. Some work places will be happy to train you and others wont so it's really hard to say

This video doesn't really inform people about computer engineering... computer science is super different from computer engineering....
@SunshineinMyCode4 жыл бұрын
Hello Advhavho, Did you watch the whole video because we do actually talk about the differences. Ona majored in computer engineering and computer science The video is not meant to highlight the difference between the degrees but rather to talk about tips for doing well in your degree and how we both got into programming. These tips will actually apply for any degree. Good luck with your studies and stay positive!
