I like the UDisc ratings. I don’t play tournaments so had no PDGA rating and no idea where I stand because I normally play alone. UDisc ratings give me an idea of where I stand and it allows me to monitor my progress.

I played pretty much solo for the first several years of my disc golf life before finally joining the PDGA. I would have LOVED something like UDisc ratings for the same reasons you mentioned 👍

I think both have value in the sport. It will be interesting to see if the PDGA makes a change moving forward.

I like the suggestion of taking the top X% of rounds bc there are a lot of 890 rated players that can pop off for a 970 or whatever that shouldn't be playing in MA3 haha

Yessir! Good ol' Eastham, that course is tough to play now but for some reason I just didn't get tired of it when we were playing 3-5x per week haha

Thanks for the estimate formula. I took the 11 UDisc rated rounds I have (most courses I've played recently didn't have a Smart Layout...), averaged them (min: 134, max 180) and used your formula: 819. I played only 1 sanctioned tournament and had an 817 rating. So pretty good so far :-) Objective for me now: 170 (PDGA 840) and above!
@ArmoryDiscGolf Жыл бұрын
I forgot to mention in the video, but from what I read the formula doesn't hold up as well above/below certain points. 150? 180? Something like that. Good luck snagging some hot rounds!

Pdga is definitely the best system for tournament play, it gives you dynamic feedback for all conditions of play! UDisc is awesome to get immediate feedback on casual rounds!

Exactly 🤝 People love to hate the PDGA system but it's so solid

Just what I was looking for today in the conversion from one to the other. Side question: Is this the course that the city just voted to remove? Some of the hole designs looked pretty neat.

Good info man! I figure I’m about an 850 rated player and that math jives with that. I seem to be in that 165-205 udisc rating range. My guess is it’s easier to get a higher rated round on an easier course where the avg player may not be as skilled vs a challenging course that keeps the MA4’s and some MA3’s away. And guessing those good players avoid the easier courses more.
@ArmoryDiscGolf11 ай бұрын
Thanks! I haven't dug a ton into how different courses around me rate on UDisc, but I do know that easier courses tend to rate better for lower end players and worse for higher end players on the PDGA side

I tried to estimate the pdga rating of my last round by finding the course SSE (scratch score estimate) on DGCR, and then totally guessing at the RPPT (ratings points per throw). pdga rating estimate=755. Udisc score = 143. udiscx2+500=786.
@ArmoryDiscGolf Жыл бұрын
Oh, I forgot to mention in the video, there WAS a disclaimer in that discussion about that conversion getting skewed if you go above ~250 or below a certain point... maybe 180? Something like that

Why not just average your UDisc round ratings for a player rating?
@ArmoryDiscGolf4 ай бұрын
I think that would be a great idea for UDisc to implement that. Problem is that it's wayyyyy easier to lie about your UDisc scores than in a PDGA event so idt they'd carry the same weight
@shawnwhite16459 ай бұрын
I enjoyed the video- except the silly way you open them, headbutting the camera. 🤷♂ Why, just why? I did however laugh at your "J-milly jump putt reference", but then felt bad for you when you forgot to say it on hole 16 and dinked the jump putt off the front of the basket. I like the U-disc ratings, because I've only been playing disc golf for 16 months now and just played my first tournament a little over a week ago, so I had no clue where I rate as far as a PDGA rating goes.
