The mridangam is my favourite Indian percussion instrument for sure....the wooden earthy sound is delightful...India as far as I'm concerned is the repository for the ultimate expression of percussion on the planet...the wealth and depth and technicality of percussion is mind blowing. And I speak as a lover of African percussion...

The 'omkara naadham' emanating from this instrument is unmistakable. That is the beauty of Bharatiya percussion instruments. (Om Namah Shivaya! Om Namo Narayanaya! Jai Mahalakshmi! Jai Shakti!) And Thiru. Sivaraman sir at 85 yrs of age. A living legend among us!
