I have a fft wave blueprint, and i want my ship to react with the waves, but al my ship does is float and not react.

i think there's a more simple way to do it. simulate cube and add weight. if you step on the object, it will sink and move.

I tried this but the cube is completely ignoring the water. I've triple checked that I got all the blueprints, settings and variables right, and it all looks identical to what's shown here. Is there any other setting that is assumed to be switched on?

@@madeeasy7148 unfortunately I never did, and ended up using the water body plugin instead, which has its own quirks, but at least works.

@@JohnSmith-wj2wdHi John, I had to go down the physics route and it's hell for a noob to get right. So many nodes and it's hard to get right. I cant even use the water plugin because I'm trying to this on a birdbath 😩

@@madeeasy7148 physics can be quite daunting for beginners indeed. But certainly learnable. My advice is to start with very basic interactions and learn why the things are involved that are needed to get it working. E.g. a cube that you can suspend in the air and watch falling. You'll learn about friction, inertia, and the projects physics settings with this alone.

my cubes are floating but doesnt feel dynamic like yours, and also if i have water material that use some waves system based on geometry from terrain (optimized tesselation), shouldnt Impact Normal find the changes of shape of the geometry and move object depend on shape collision?

This works pretty well. What would be a good way to make it so that the physics objects (cubes) can sort of go back to the way they were in the water after a player has jumped on them for example? My player can jump on platforms I made in water with this system, but they rotate from the players weight and even after the player jumps off, the platforms just stay diagonal sticking out of the water and it looks unnatural. Any idea on how to fix this?

I just stuck a Set world Rotation after the damping nodes and left it 0/0/0

I'm still new, but constraints on the object's rotation should help it move without totally flipping when player steps on it.

AVS comes with a debug widget which outputs a lot of info - speed, gears, rpm and much more. Open it and have a look at how they output the speed.

This is so far off the mark it's gross. The buoyancy system has nothing to do with project settings or blueprint functions. It's a component and is supposed to be a simple box tick.
