I just want to warn that if you set Sky Light to Movable (as the template does) and add a Sky Atmosphere and/or an Exponential Height Fog you will get the strong ambient light from the Sky Light even inside closed rooms with no windows. (It took me hours to hunt down this issue.)

@Yuyu I didn't. Either don't set Sky Light as Movable or don't use Sky Atmosphere and Exponential Height Fog.

This was incredibly helpful in breaking down the different lighting components. Thank you for making this!

I have search a lot on youtube for learning unreal engine but you're the best who teach every single step of the unreal engine environment ... but I'm still waiting for level design and game environment series, please make a course on the game environment as you did before The Corridor Environment I was really happy at the end of the course

Thank you Dozar. I appreciate that. One of my goals this year is to focus back on level design and environment art tutorials. Got few UE4 tuts in the pipeline still and some Maya LT modeling but what you want will be coming!

Very good video again! I purchased your courses and must say they are really good. Maybe you can make a course on how to let your character use ingame stuff like swimming our picking up items in a game?

This is helpful but I am curious as to why the template only allows for dawn to dusk scenarios and no full day to night cycle including a moon and the ability to tweak nighttime lighting.

Thanks so much Ineeded this since those unreal courses about lighting are oudated. Still have a question t tohugh. Some of those hose cloud formations still look weird in some parts how do you fix those? Thanks man.
@WorldofLevelDesign3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, there is a noticeable seam in the cloud/mask texture. Adjust the Material Instance for the Volumetric Cloud, specifically WeatherUVScale parameter. It helps a bit. Its m_SimpleVolumetricCloud_Inst found inside Engine content. The best way I found to fix it is to create your own Volumetric Cloud material. I'll have a tutorial on that showing you how sometime in Feb.

@@WorldofLevelDesign Ok thanks, I will look what I can do with the material instance. Im looking forward to your new tutorial.

Sorry for a noob question, but what if want to have static lighting in my scene? Is it ok to set this dynamic sky the way that looks good to me and bake the lighting? You’ve set your directional light to movable - did I get it right that I have to switch it so static or stationary for baked lighting? Or should I use a completely different approach for sky and clouds in that case? Thanks!

Hello and thank you for this tutorial! I'm stuck though at applying the M_SkyTimeofDay material as it's just not showing up anywhere for me... I've installed UE only recently and I'm on 5.0.2. Maybe the asset has a different name now?

I've updated this tutorial to UE5. Take a look at it kzbin.info/www/bejne/bYq8g6qwfbaKhqs

Hi, I followed your steps but I still can’t connect direction light and sky atmosphere, the sky isn’t showing. Please help. I’m using ue5 btw.
@WorldofLevelDesign2 жыл бұрын
UE5 has Directional Light: Atmosphere Sun Light enabled by default. All you have to do is drag the Directional Light and drag Sky Atmosphere. And it will work right away. You might need to rotate Directional Light and point it down.

I'm using 4.26 as for specs I'm not sure how your specs will work, will also depend on the graphics card but try and see. Also here are recommended specs docs.unrealengine.com/en-US/Basics/RecommendedSpecifications/index.html
