@@huguesdaguet6720 I just replicated this in the newest version of Unreal, he does a few things kind of fast but the main thing here is you need to hold the number 1 then left click anywhere in the Blueprint that doesn't have anything in it.

@@Xnix_ You probably already figured it out but for other people seeing this, to get the -1.0 to work when you are adjusting the SkysphereBlueprint - Reset the Directional Light Actor to the default (click the yellow arrow to the right so it goes back to default) then it should work.

First of all, Thanks for this tutorial. Secondly, you should by some O-rings for your keyboard if the noise bothers you. I did the same and it's a noticeable difference.

5:25 the LERP node here is called LinearInterpolate if you're searching for it. I accidentally used Lerp_3Color because I didn't know the shortcut and it didn't work

Sorry about that! I try not to assume prior knowledge on the part of the viewer, but sometimes things like that slip past :) The shortcut for creating a lerp node is to hold 'L' and left click the graph.

Hey, thanks a bunch for the video... I was wondering if you had a way to make it bind to the skysphere_BP to rotate around the game world for day/night cycle. I tried a couple of things myself but I am also trying not to mess up what I currently have. Also... last question... I swear... do you think it's possible to get a nebula in the skysphere? Hello, trying this out but when I get to 10:00 when you do the normalize from subtract, mine looks different than yours and has a Tolerence setting to it yours doesn't, Also, it mostly worked but cant get the moon to face the same way as yours and feel like this might be the problem. It's been the only thing that hasn't lined up with your tutorial. Also the lines from construction script to set actor rotation is glowing red.

Open up your LUT texture and then in the details panel, change the Texture Group to 'ColorLookupTable'. It sounds like that might be your problem. Let me know if you're still having issues!

Hi, please help. I got this moonBp all working with a full sphere texture, except when I drag it into the game, it’s only half. The back half is just white. Also it always faces my player start in the editor but in game it doesn’t follow my character. Is that normal?

Just tried this in UE4.26. First of all, thanks for all the hard work and the info. Unfortunately, when I finished, my moon material was all white with transparency around the end; it's like the the texture image was voided out. I found that I had used the wrong LERP node (thanks to the comment below) and corrected that, but that didn't resolve the issue. If I drag the texture sample directly into the emissive value for the material I see the texture, but when I connect it up through the processing steps I lose it somewhere.

Really nice tutorial. How would you do a mooncrest based on the suns orbital rotation in a day and night cycle? I'm guessing you need a black mask to projected onto another mesh sphere that you rotate in front of the current object but can't portray in my head how this would work out.. if it's not possible to cheat believably :) Cheers

It depends on how youve implemented clouds. If theyre volumetric shapes that exist at a location in the world, then yes - but if theyre integrated into the skysphere or otherwise not dependent on a 3D location, then no.

This was awesome, I've made a custom moon which now faces the player at all times. Problem is that I have a day/night cycle and the moon won't move with it. Currently the light is set to rotate but I can't make the sun and moon opposite of each other. Any suggestions?

see where it says directional light actor above sun brightness it should be selected on light source but click it and towards the top there should be clear. select that and your good ;)

Figured it out. It was because my world (landscape imported from World Machine) is quite large and the center of it was not set to 0,0,0, instead a corner of it was. So the moon was doing it's fixed rotation but due to world size of the world, moving it around as much as in your video wasn't enough to notice the rotation. Thanks again for the great tutorial. =)

You need to place a post processing volume in the scene, check the unbounded box so it covers the whole map, then go to the details panel in post processing volume and go to exposure, click min and max exposure on and set them to 1. this will keep the game from auto adjusting brightness when you don't want it.

It doesn't work properly for the following versions of the engine. It doesn't exist the settings of Min and Max Brightness anymore, and the LUT thing also looks totally different. =(

You can add one to the scene by going to your 'modes' tab and searching for 'post-process' in the search bar, then dragging the post-process volume into the scene. I hope that helps! :)

No worries, thanks for commenting :) The assets you're looking for should be in the assets download link found in the description of the video. My tutorials are generally aimed at people with a minimal preexisting knowledge of the engine, im sorry I dont specify that, but if youre interested in learning, I have dozens of other material/shaders tutorials where I do explain core concepts and fundamental info. Check out my Hex Material, Crystal Material, Car Paint, Crysis Armor and 3D Health Bar videos for some cool materials to get you started :) I hope that helps!

Dont be afraid to check out the UE4 documentation for nodes that dont make sense or things like that - even like, googling a list of keyboard shortcuts can help with the little things that i skip over and dont explain; i know that one common complaint with this video is how i use shortcuts in materials and not explain them, but thats my fault, not yours :) Believe me, with time, everything in this video will become like second nature and youll be a game design legend ;) Stick with it!

Let me be honest, I have been following your tutorials for a while now & it is irritating that you do something & things magically pop and you don't explain that part, also this happens when you are editing nodes you just carry on without explaining stuff. This makes me feel that the videos are kinda rushed.
