I started learning with UE4.27 since last July and loved it at the beginning. I lately found that everything i paint always been tiling and in line without knowing why, that just got my mind blowing over and over since... i must have been doing something wrong or my computer is just not powerful enought. I see alot of people doing video stuff and showcasing their work and now telling us how they do this and that, and was way beautiful than i could do, even with 4k or 8k texture... i know i am not skilled yet but i am not dumb still... now i know why after watching your videos. Thanks a million for sharing this. Just started watching your video now for the 2nd time and inspecting your free content at the same time to build it on my learning project. Will feedback you after its done 😁 I got lucky i found your channel by chance. It was on suggested panel and i opennied it. And also, for all this 🥰you are one of the few so far that explain at the proper speed, at the proper pitch and well spoke with correct wording, as a foreigner speaker (french canadian) it is easy to follow without rewinding a few step. 5/5⭐

FYI: The Macro Variation trick also works really well for non-landscape materials (i.e. concrete). Even though I just used a simple material, connecting the basic textures & Gold macro variation, it greatly improved the look of my concrete material.

xy-worldposition probably more useful than landscape layer coords, as that node is used to map whole textures over the terrain like satmaps, a variant of the regular local space tex-coord node

GOD, i spent so many hours trying to figure out how to make the tile effect disappear and still have sharp textures(there are other nodes like texture rotation or booming but they blur the texture)...you sir are the man. Macro Variation i already used but adding distance blend near/far and two textures using Perlin Noise made it perfect. Now the texture is sharp and i can add Tessellation. I will split this in material functions and make a bigger material to use more then 2 textures.

May you show how to apply these tips to a Megascan material instance? They all share the same material that makes use of some material functions to generate the output values and it's a bit tricky to get everything to work as you describe. I couldn't get the distance blend to work.

Thank you very much! How would you add in more than the 2 textures? There is only an A and B input on the Blend Material Attribute. With no option to add in another input. (C, D, E Etc.) Would you Lerp the Blend Material Attributes together? A noob+ here. I don't know very much about the engine yet.
@preston7263
@preston7263 2 жыл бұрын
Try Lerp or Multiply, or Add...or a combination of those. Another idea is to create a separate landscape layer containing 2 other textures that are blended with the Blend Material Attributes node. There's a limit of 16 samples per layer. It's also easier to track each texture when painting, rather than opening the Material Instance with half a dozen different textures and modifying all the properties for those in a humongous list.

Good tutorial and channel. After implementing the material as described here, I'm still seeing tiling in the form of what looks like grid lines, closer together up close, farther away from each other in the distance. Rebuilding lighting or changing light direction doesn't help. I'm using 4K Megascans textures.

The same is true for me. My solution is to change the size of the grass texture in the distance to make it blurry, but it will still be like this at some other angles.

Im trying to make a master Landscape Material...and once I get to duplicating the textures @ 6:33 I get mixed up because each of those textures already has heaps of other parameters like Roughness or Color Hue or Tint. Not to mention that these textures are also parameters. My mind is in knots right now.
