The best tutorial on foot placement, it removed so much unnecessary stuff and made it so simple, all that remains is to figure out what a quaternion is and why the order of the factors affects the product. Thank you, kind man, for this knowledge )).

Thank you so much for this great tutorial! I subscribed to your channel. 😄 You were the first to show how to debug Control Rig in the Editor, and that was super helpful! Your rotational system definitely works better than others I have tried, but I need to figure out a way to turn it off while on stairs, since it will glitch on the sharp stair edges. One other slight issue is the feet will rise slightly when pointed uphill, but sit mostly flat (if not a little below the ground surface) when pointed downhill. I'm using a custom character (not the Mannequin), so I'm not sure if that's specific to my mesh's skeleton or if all skeletons exhibit this behavior on slopes. Will definitely update this comment if I find a solution. Thanks again!

Yeh stairs would need a bit of extra work with traces. The way I'd do it is having extra casts when on stairs to somewhat detect the stairs and then force the feet to be placed at the optimal point on the step, so you don't get any weird overhang. It's a very polish thing though, not something I'd worry about until later down the line.
