If you trained in Karate without have conditioned your fingers to be able to poke it strongly at a hard object like a steel rod or be able to punch your extended knuckle in a hard object like punching an iron knuckle then you are not a karateka. What about your usual punch can you hit a makiwara with speed and real hard enough to break a concrete hollow block. The finger strike, extended knuckles and a very strong punch is the real weapon of karate.They are the unseen weapon.

@diosdadoapias8 жыл бұрын
+MaharlikaAWA why do you strike your fingers or knuckles on a hard object? that is plain stupidity. You train your fingers and knuckles on a padded object to train them withstand impact without breaking your fingers or buckling your extended knuckles. Your fingers simulate a rod and your extended knuckles the brass knuckles. If the force of the fingers and knuckles will be focus on that small point of impact it might create injury to the tissues like what a rod or brass knuckles can create to the body.

I think all the legit karate schools are in California. You're right, too many Mcdojos everywhere else. People need to stick to the legit Japanese and Okinawan styles and avoid all that "American Karate" bullshit.
@complexblackness6 жыл бұрын
44excalibur The overall quality control of Karate here in the states in General is low. From Shotokan (most popular) to Kenpo (Popular) and other styles, the quality control is lacking and varies from school to school. Most of the money is in the kids and belt test. Also most Americans aren't willing to put up with what you see being trained in Okinawa. Damn near all Karate schools here in the US, promote their "lil ninjas" or "Tiny warriors" programs over the adult programs. Many are still stuck in the past with tradition and their training. Not evolving to meet the legit MMA/Grappling crowd.
@44excalibur6 жыл бұрын
ComplexBlackness Well, I still prefer Shotokan, because I think that they still have the most legitimate schools that teach the old school methods, but you have to carefully scrutinize each school to make sure they're legit. I'm more skeptical of Kenpo schools because so many of them popped up in the 80's and 90's and they do tend to water down their techniques and training. Stephen Thompson's Kenpo Karate is one of the few exceptions. Ed Parker really did a lot of damage to Karate in the USA.
@complexblackness6 жыл бұрын
44excalibur Kyokushin and brother arts are up there in terms of quality. Most people aren't going to do their research or even check out schools to see if they're legit. Shotokan is good its just that there are so many schools, there's bound to be a McDojo.

have you ever actually tried to block a full power (with intent to kill) roundhouse kick to the head with a shuto????? I'm guessing not,it just does not work,simple conservation of momentum laws of physics show how difficult this is to achieve.
@user-ut7bh4mc9o6 жыл бұрын
There is no longer a block, but a blow to strike here, whose strike is stronger, and for this purpose it is necessary to use hard objects for training a little more.
@jadekayak016 жыл бұрын
I understand the difference between shuto uchi and uke. at my level I don't bother with uke anything. I redirect softly or attack incoming strike. the problem is a shuto against a shin roundhouse is just not going to work-view any muay Thai fight to see what is effective. if its a ball of foot roundhouse you may have a chance but the shin bone is a very formidable weapon to "block" or attack with a hand or arm technique
@user-ut7bh4mc9o6 жыл бұрын
jadekayak01 In reality, it is very difficult to adequately correct the impact, and therefore it is easier to shock the enemy with a blow to strike, and then, after the shock guards fail not only to defend themselves, but also to fight, then it is necessary to use the destructive technique of ata waza.

@prepper71544 жыл бұрын
