I think one of the things I like most about this is that we can now physically feel if a game is unoptimized. Like Postal 4 for example.

I'm using a gtx 1080 and with reprojection on it works surprisingly well, so don't get put off by that.

@@PapaHola If you don't have a powerful PC, it very much is. There is some ghosting, but it is definitely smooth.

This is incredibly helpful, thank you so much for all this. My PC is so angry with me with trying to run everything I'm running, even when it's just the Oculus app (or Steam Link), the game, and the injector. This will help me look at some other options to try and avoid setting my pc on 🔥😂

I have a HP Reverb G2. And honestly it's hard, to get games running at good framerates without sacrificing resolution or framerates. I've been trying out Styx: Shards of Shadows with an RX6800. I can get the game to run at 90Hz with Synchronized Sequential (SS) rendering method at almost full resolution ~6000x3000. But the game really renders at 45fps with SS turned on. If I choose Native Stereo that drops ~40-50fps. So it's really a battle between giving up a lot of performance or a lot of resolution without native upscaling support. I mean, it makes sense; I wouldn't consider these resolutions and framerates sensible for UE4 and UE5 titles even on semi-powerful hardware. But I am crossing my fingers that we will see more FSR2 injection into UE4- and UE5 games in the future... Personally I wished the tool could support UE3 titles. Playing games like Bioshock Trilogy, Mass Effect Trilogy, Dishonored, Enslaved etc. would be absolutely incredible in VR! They are so light weight these that it would make so much sense for VR. But yeah, one step at a time. I don't know if it's even feasible to support UE3 in the future. Bulletstorm is getting ported to VR. I wonder how they did that, if they moved the game to UE4 or if they built VR libraries for UE3.

Interesting. I also have a G2 and run a 7900XTX and get terrible frame rates on everything I tried in Native Stereo. I have'nt tried SS yet so that may improve them, but so far I tried MX vs ATV Legends and RoboCop, not good at all even set everything to Low. Not sure what Nvidia guys are getting but its tough to run these games in VR.

I also have reverb g2 and what I often notice is that my GPU and CPU have still a lot of headroom left while performance is bad. Which leads me to conclusion: Either the game is badly optimised or there is a hope to make it work better by changing certain settings. Mentioned Robocop, I have my in game settings on medium/low with resolution downscaled to 0.8 inside injector. It runs well at 90 fps but it’s a bit blurry.

@@TorqueSpike40 Im surprised to hear that on a 7900XTX.. because normal gaming benchmarks are high.. but I guess its different in UEVR because something else within the drivers are not optimized for it. Although I have a 6yold 2080Ti 11GB and it runs fairly smooth, although framerates are a bit low. But still playable on medium settings.

About the resolution - does in-game resolution matter at all or does that only effect the resolution on desktop view and i should set that to the lowest possible one? It's a bit confusing being able to change the resolution in the game, in UEVR and in my case also in ToolkitXR

Speaking from experience, it depends on the game. For example if I lower in game resolution to the minimum in Robocop, it will affect image quality inside VR headset. Now if I do the same with a different game like Little Nightmares 2, I get performance boost without loosing quality in a VR headset. So I would suggest to try to lower resolution in game to minimum. Depending on the game you might get lucky.

Potential windows defender deleting a file from the release zip. Check your protection history and restore and allow any of the threats related to UEVR. (Windows will take a while to learn about this app before it stops going full nuke mode on it)

I think you'll want to go stationary for a VR PC. Laptops are not recommended from every discussion I've seen on the subject.

@@allentoy6408 I was already using VR with a 1660ti laptop. Especially since VD introduced like the local quest 2 upscaler, the only game that wasn't enjoyable for me was flight simulator. Thanks our legendary waifu connaisseur I now know that even a game like returnal is playable on a 3060 with the method I use. I travel a lot and I'm not that demanding...

BS, I have a gaming laptop and its friggin amazing. 3090ti PERFORMANCE with Frame gen (4090 laptop). Perfect for VR because I can move it wherever I need to to hook it up directly to ethernet. @@allentoy6408

out of the options you presented, steam link would probably provide the best performance, link and air link require the oculus software to also be running in the background.

I tried injecting this into Kingdom Hearts 3 and while it did work the framerate was very very low. I tied lowering many if the in gme settings but still very low framerate. Any tips to help with this?

Make sure Hardware accelerated GPU scheduling is off, try running it with a -dx11 launch option. Head over to the ue-games section of the flat2VR discord for KH3 where everyone is discussing tips and tricks for every specific game.

I've only played Fallen order so far. It looks great, by when I turn its so blurry and the camera is so shaky. I've turned off motion smoothing and turned doe the graphics settings but still the same. I'm running on a 4070 super.

Virtual Desktop has own OpenXR runtime which gives you better performance because you don't have to run the game through SteamVR or Oculus's runtime.

VDXR runtime, can upscale off your PC and on the standalone hardware. Space warp is very good on it. I use link cable most the time but VD is very good.

In soul calibur 6 the menu screens are all black in the headset until i actually enter a battle, so i have to select game modes and characters through flatscreen. Anyone havin the same problem??

How do I open the in-game settings using my VR controllers? I couldn't get it to open at all. Do we have to use the keyboard/mouse for in-game settings menus?

Press both sticks in at the same time. Check out my other getting started videos on this channel. You can use a gamepad or use the touch VR controllers as a pointer in the UEVR menu as well.

I like using the oculus debug tool, there is a very detailed performance overlay which is what I show here. There are a number of different stats it can show.

Thanks for every video. I can use it now. Ijust can't play Lies of P. When I inject the mod it says: DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED. Works good with every other game and Lies of P works without the mod. Do you know what can I do?

Sounds like you have hardware accelerated GPU scheduling turned on. Turn that off in windows settings.
