Jon Jones was expected to make his first title defense on August 6, 2011 at UFC 133 against Rashad Evans, but Jones was sidelined with a hand injury. It was initially announced that the hand injury would require surgery, but Jones opted for rest and rehabilitation without surgery after further consultations with doctors. Jones' injury was originally thought to keep him out of action until late 2011, but instead, he made his first title defense against Quinton Jackson at UFC 135.

Big coaching advantage for Jones. Rampages coaching yelling all kinds of crap at the same time. Jackson calms Jones down and gives specific, concise strategy.

This fight is an interesting psychological case study for Jones. All his nightmares took place in the first round so he played it extremely safe until he got out of the round. After that he had zero doubt that he'd win and opened up. The man beat himself and Ramage in the same night.

"Jon’s corner calm relaxed, trying to make him feel comfortable and focused and give him confidence and then rampage corner just screaming nonsense at him." Wouldn't have mattered. The two fighters are on completely different levels of fighting. Rampage didn't have a chance. Which he understood soon after the opening bell rang. Between rounds he wasn't even bothering to listen to his coaches. Look at his expression after Jones landed that elbow. And while on his stool after round one. The look in his eyes that has him thinking, "Hell did I land a single blow? I'm aching from head to toe and it's only the first round. This here some voodoo sh*t goin' on. What IS that...that...THING." 7:51 - 9:07

@@kingcrimson3882 what had Islam v Charles to do with Khabib? In my opinion, Islam has fought tougher and harder stylistically fights than Khabib in the UFC. He had also expressed that he wants to jump to welterweight after defending 4-5 times. That’s the attitude that throws you into the goat discussion. The undefeated status is Khabib’s alone for now. But remember Charles had more submissions than Khabib had fights in the UFC. Not mocking Khabib’s skills, I think he could probably be the champ at Welterweight, but he didn’t want that challenge to protect his streak

I know it sounds cool to prop up Jon Jones as this John Wick-esque man of focus who never showed fear but I think the real reason is so much better because it shows Jon was still human despite his greatness. The real reason why he didn't make eye contact was beause he was scared of Rampage. Jon Jones himself admitted he had nightmares of Rampage knocking him down 30 seconds in. In fact, this fight was the reason why Jon started crawling towards his opponents at the start of fights because according to him, his nightmares always started with him standing up so he decided to crawl so the nightmares wouldn't come true.

Ladies and gentlemen, let's cut through the fog of idolization and get to the heart of the matter. Jon Jones, he's a name that reverberates through the halls of MMA like a thunderclap. But before you anoint him as the deity of this sport, let's take a closer look at the man behind the myth. Jon Jones, a man who has let his talents be eclipsed by his own demons. A man who, despite his unparalleled skill and undeniable charisma, has chosen a path littered with deceit and dishonor. You call him a god, but I say he is the shaytan of MMA, a tempter who has lured us into the illusion of greatness tainted by his own flaws. What does it mean to be a god in this sport? To be worshipped, revered, respected? No, it means embodying the spirit of competition, the purity of athleticism, and the honor of a true champion. Jon Jones has chosen shortcuts over integrity, relying on the crutch of performance-enhancing drugs to bolster his already prodigious abilities. Steroids and drugs, they’re not the tools of a god, but the vices of a coward afraid to face his own limits. He’s shattered records, yes, but he’s also shattered the trust of his fans, the respect of his peers, and the sanctity of the sport. His legacy is not one of untainted glory but of squandered potential. Every victory tainted, every achievement shadowed by the whispers of ‘what ifs’ and ‘maybes’. Jon Jones, the man who should have stood as a pillar of greatness, instead stands as a cautionary tale. A man who could have been the embodiment of everything we hold dear in MMA but chose to embody its darkest possibilities instead. He’s not the god of MMA; he’s its shaytan, a figure who reminds us not of what the sport can be, but what it must never become. So, next time you’re tempted to raise him up on a pedestal, remember the foundation it’s built on. A foundation of lies, drugs, and shattered dreams. He’s not the beacon lighting the path to greatness, but the warning sign at the edge of the abyss. Choose to see him for what he truly is, not what you wish him to be.

Rampage is such a beast of a man but I dont know if Ive ever heard a more respectful and honest speech made in defeat before. If you have to accept the loss a fight, you couldnt possibly do it with more genuine class than this. The emphasis on how he was in the best shape of his life, why he couldnt implement leg kicks and the warning to every other fighter that Jones was a different beast altogether. An inspirational speech after an absolutely emphatic loss lol.

@@DumbBabydude it’s cuz he fights like it’s a street fight these other fighter rely on movesets and style more than actually just running up on the dude and beating the shit out on him like jones does. The only time he doesn’t is if he thinks the fighter regardless can take the punches then he waits for a opening basically dude is fighting them to death while there fighting to win a match that’s the difference between them no fighter in the mma has realizes that Jon jones is just some normal dude who trained for a bit and won realizes he was good and kept on training but still uses his raw skills to win the matches and uses the talent skills to control the match

@@blokin5039 nah fam u seen that wrong or just dont know better. This isn‘t a simple guard pull. It’s a flying triangle that he set up in just a few secs. Jones clinches Rampage, then Rampage starts throwing uppercuts from the clinch. Jones catches the throwing arm of rampage and creates space which allows him to jump perfectly in triangle position due to his leg over rampages right arm. This is so high IQ man jones is goat
