Name a few people who have gone up in weight and been successful. Offhand I can name two, BJ Penn and Randy Couture. Props to Diaz for stepping up, but people need to shut up about no full camp etc(excuses even before the fight!), Diaz fought in December and regularly claims to be a ninja so he's going to be in decent shape. Also the fact that McGregor is willing to fight at 170 after coming from 145 balances things even more.The reason Nate was picked over Cerrone was because he was the biggest draw and has beaten Cerrone. This fight makes sense. McGregor could of decided not to fight anyone and waited for Dos Anjos like others would have but he comes to fight so he said fuck it give me Nate at 170 for no title. I never seen Diaz so nervous either. I thought he was gonna be up for it but he was staging acting cool hitting the table like it was a drum and kept saying steroids. When McGregor said Diaz two stablemates were done for it Diaz fell apart for a second like the best thing he could say to rattle conor had just backfired on him. I can't wait as with Diaz you always get a good open fight. I think Diaz just wanted the money. He is getting around $1.5m for it and he knows win or lose that's what he's getting. The fact he wouldn't make the 155 or even 160 shows he's physically not ready and mentally he has just shown he is not ready either.

I am not sure about that. I think he thought Nate would get into a mental game competition with him, but then he didn't, so Conor looked like he didn't know what to make of it. He just stepped back a bit, I mean, he wasn't as aggressive as he was with others. He became more pensive. He needs to regroup.

I respect Conor Mcgregor, he could've fought any opponent of his choosing but he has a compassionate side under his heavy marketing. Dana White didn't give Nate Diaz the money he deserved for all of those years and McgGregor has leverage in the fight game now and vouched for him to be the opponent and Nate Diaz is finally getting a 500,000 payout and an extra 100k if he wins. He was offered 300k by Dana, but Nate stood his ground and wanted the same deal Dos Anjos was getting. I hope Nate Diaz manages that money well. He is no joke and McGregor knows that. +BURCHDOG To be honest, I think it is up in the air. Maybe this is just a test to see if he can bang with the 170 pound weight division. Maybe pursue a Welterweight belt. I like Conor but I do not think that gives him the power to jump way ahead of others that want that 170 belt. I mean I would love to see Conor fight someone like Carlos Condit. That would be a good fight. So maybe Conor can hang with the 170 crowd a bit and then go after Lawler. But in reality what will happen is, this will be a good test for Conor to see how fast he is and how he fights at 170, make no mistake he will go down to 155 when RDA is ready and is healed up, but that will be months from now. Maybe in UFC 200? Pretty sure Conor will be on that card. They are going to make that the best Card ever in the history of UFC. I am curious to see what will happen after this fight. Because Conor is not losing to another Stand up slow southpaw. No he will beat him hands down and I am a Nate fan believe it or not. I just can't picture Conor banging with the 170's, I think he prefers the 155 division. I want to see him and Anthony Petis go at it too.
