Oliveira may have the weirdest career trajectory ever, he came onto to scene as a big prospect and BJJ ace, had some quick success, then fell off fast and looked like he was another failed hype job. Then came raging back with a vengeance. It's crazy. The closest parallel I can think of is Robbie Lawler, it's just a much more extreme version of that.

His journey is similar to Lawler's, but Oliveira's was entirely inside the UFC while Lawler was bouncing around promotions having mixed success in them (he was most successful in EliteXC) until he returned to the UFC. 2018 was the year Charles Oliveira started to put it all together and go on this amazing run he's had to the title.

Now, that quality can be great for a priest, seer or something, but it's obstructive for physical agility demanding tasks like fighting. You notice his meticulous strategies in the octagon and his hesitation to do damage to opponents because he keeps traveling back and forth mind and spirit. Unfortunately, his coach is just like any other and doesn't understand how significant this spiritual side of him could be in a fight. I've made 8 predictions of Israel Adesanya, 5 of which came true - including his loss to Jan Blachowicz. The last 3 are pending and have nothing to do with his life in the octagon. If only Cannonier would spend 6 months or so with someone like me, he would understand himself so much better and all these spiritual obstacles to his fighting career would turn to his advantage

This card is WILD! I think Munoz comes back with pressure like D-level Kris Moutinho and C+ level fighters Andre Soukhamthath could put the pressure on him in around three and neither are as formidable as Pedro Munoz. If he survives early, he can make O’Malley wilt down the stretch and get the late finish or even dust him like he did with Cody Garbrandt. Definitely don’t agree with the odds!

I respect Izzy a lot but Cannonier is a different kind of dude when it comes to heart and determination. Izzy seems to be telling the media he is going to show off and be aggressive against Cannonier. If he does he will either eat him alive or he could make that one mistake and be met with that former heavyweight power.

Izzy is all talk man we’ve been through this too many times to buy into his talking. If Cannonier puts pressure on Izzy and sets a high pace then Izzy will counter punch and knock him out and the fight will be considered fun and everyone will say Izzy had a awesome performance BUT if Cannonier shells up and tries to make Izzy set the pace Izzy will throw leg kicks from afar and do absolutely nothing and win by decision then blame Cannonier for giving him a boring fight because “he’s the champ and the contender needs to come for the title not the other way around” which is half true sure but how many times are we going to let Izzy get away with doing nothing all fight and even running at times and still say he’s the champ...... it all depends on what Cannonier does and hopefully he takes a little from Jan’s gameplan and use his obvious strength advantage to keep him down and ground out a decision and don’t worry about “entertaining” the crowd because lord knows Izzy won’t care lol

Strickland doesn't have decent defense. He has unbelievable defense. Just not with the leg kicks. Strickland also only ever showed a weak chin at 170. He was drastically compromising his body and that directly murders the chin. Also, you put Gastelum on Cannonier's list twice lol

If he gives someone a 70% or higher chance of winning then he is confident in that pick. He also lists how many times he was correct & wrong on his confident picks. Edit: Basically C = correct prediction, I = incorrect prediction, >70% = his confident picks.

I feel like you underestimated the changes Max Holloway made to his arsenal. We’ve never seen his ability to get fighters against the cage and press them against the cage quite like how he’s shown in his past 2 fights. His utilization of knees and elbows being the biggest improvements, especially knees. Huge opportunities in the 2nd Volk fight were missed when he had Volk against the cage but let him off, so I don’t think he’ll make that same mistake.

Gonna be really hard to land many good leg kicks on O’Malley with the range difference.
