Solid picks. The only pick I disagree with is Holloway vs Gaethje. This fight will be a lot closer than people think. The fight Max had with Dustin was on short notice-and he still did very good. He was even close to finishing Poirier at one point. But yes, obviously he didn't have time to fill into the weight-class, plus fighting a southpaw. Anyways, I think Holloway's pressure and volume will overwhelm Gaethje. 49-48 Holloway

True about Max in the Poirer 2 fight. I didn't realize it was short notice for Max ( that was before my time as a fan, so I missed a few outside details there ). I'm much more interested in this fight now, with many seeing Max getting this. Hell yeah!

Great picks Angie! Everyone is writing off Max and I understand Gaethje could very well do what he did to Ferguson, and I also think Max isn't the same Max as he was a few years ago, but if he shows up in form, I think he's gonna surprise a lot of people. He's always had one of the best chins in the game, so we'll see if it can hold up against Justin. It is a stacked card, but I thought the main event announcement didn't live up to the hype they were trying to build. Look forward to your recap 🤘
@spicemma7 ай бұрын
Hey Simon, thanks for dropping by. Yes everyone was saying how good Tony's chin was until he ran into Geathje. Also Max is still looking great at feather weight, which makes me wonder how the extra weight will effect him. I love Hill, but yeah the main event really needed Strickland Vs Adesanya 2 or something. Omg I'm gonna have to take notes if I'm doing a recap of all the fights! ...

What's crazy about matchups like Oliveira vs. Tsarukyan is how the odds makers will put Oliveira at a moderate underdog, but I think 60% of people on Tapology are picking Charles to win. I wonder which will prove to be more accurate... I personally have Arman winning. I envision him scoring takedowns then pulverizing Charles from guard with ground strikes, especially elbows. But Charles has a much higher chance of getting a KO or sub, whereas Tsarukyan will likely win by decision.
@spicemma7 ай бұрын
But thats interesting that you still have Arman winning. I think Charles has more big fight experience, that gives him this extra super sayian like power ...lol.

Regarding Charles and Arman. I think Charles is the underdog because in the last fights everyone looked extremely afraid of getting in the floor with him; however, Islam as a wrestler was kinda "yo, I'm gonna actually fight the position" while Charles layed in the floor like Islam was not going for it. I think a lot of people feel that something similar can happen here, if they get to fight on the floor, Arman will fight in the floor and Charles is used to people trying to get away from him on the floor. Regardless, I'm going with Charles too. Regarding Alex and Jamahal. I don't know why, but I've got the feeling that Alex will KO Jamahal haha, I just watched all Jamahal fights and I feel that he is extremely slow, carrying a lot of power though, but slow. So Alex can get caught of course and that's it, but I don't know, I believe Alex will be able to see everything comming.
@spicemma7 ай бұрын
Oh yeah, I didn't think too much about Arman not being afraid of the ground game. Thats interesting... I feel like Alex is slower, but sturdier. So it's gonna be very tough is Jamahal isn't healed. It looks like I need to go back and watch some tape! Thanks for your takes.
@valkyriot7 ай бұрын
@@spicemma I don't know if Alex is sturdy enough, I mean, he got stunned and saved by the bell in the first fight with Israel, then he got KOed. I think that's the chance of Jamahal, I feel that he hits harder than Israel and Alex can get caught, but as I said, if you rewatch Jamahal fights, pay attention to the speed, his hands are extremely heavy, they are slow, you see them traveling, but they also feel like if there were 100kg in one single arm.

What worries me about Jamahal Hill is how he fights. He's not that skillful, but he's extremely effective because he's super athletic for a LHW. He's very fast, explosive, powerful and has a decent gas tank. Nothing he does is high-level, nor does he have a deep bag of tools, but his athleticism makes him a force of nature, and he's so fun to watch. The problem though, is I'm not sure how he'll do coming off an Achilles tendon tear. There's a good chance he won't be the same athlete, and I'd rather not back Jamahal Hill for his skills. If he comes back the same way he left though, I have him beating Alex Pereira all day, especially because Pereira's chin seems a little suspect.
@spicemma7 ай бұрын
Oh nicely put. That elusiveness is thanks to his athleticism then rather than skill? I always thought he was super crafty too, but true a lot of that has to do with his physical gifts. Even though he's not as well rounded, I think he's super sharp and talented in a unique way. But you are right... let's hope he's "heeled" up !
@MatthewMcRowan7 ай бұрын
One thing he could do is stop tweeting so much and getting into random fights with fans, dude had just few fights with not so well known fighters and expect to be glorified? If he just put the phone down and get some wins rolling I'd be fan of him but as of now he is really annoying.
@africanus20897 ай бұрын
@@spicemma He's definitely got some skill to back up his athleticism! But he's a lot like a Yoel Romero-esque fighter. He has just enough skill, but he's largely carried by his athleticism. So, he's more effective than almost anyone. I'd say it's similar to how Francis Ngannou was a more effective striker than, say, Alistair Overeem, but not necessarily more skillful.

How much fights more until he gets ranked? We just witnessed Topuria champ arc, soon Erceg will be champ in like 10 months from debut, Bo and Usman Nurmagomedov still didn't fight ranked opponent. I am trying to be nice, but yeah.. it seems off. He should be fighting in the regionals still with that many fights.. I'm guessing he's a big star in the US wrestling community... I'm sorry but the whole justin could do to max what he did to tony is pure delusion. Is max 37 schizophrenic been dropped almost every fight and slow like Tony was? Didn't think so. Did justin do that to chandler or overhyped fiziev. What about Charles or khabib? Seems like he's really just finishing guys over the age of 34 who have slowed down or are chinny like vick and cerrone. Whatever justifies -220 I guess lol
@spicemma7 ай бұрын
I hope I'm wrong. Maybe I'm being a little dramatic there. I think Gaethje has a significant size and power advantage. Truth though, Max has a far greater chin than Geathje. Anything can happen, thats why we are all disillusioned about fighting. Good points!
@N-B-MMA7 ай бұрын
@spicemma gaethje has no size advantage and the power differential is less than the max vs poirier 2 fight. Ive done over 20 hours of tape study for this fight watching and rewatching both fighters entire filmed pro careers and my 2 biggest takeaways were justins power has been overrated because he has only knocked out older and chinny fighters and noone else. That's the truth. Second is max in the pocket is an absolute savage and has gotten sharper in the pocket over the years most people just don't engage him there. Poirier got trapped in their second fight against the cage and was starting to look like he was about to be overwhelmed but he was able to get max of him. Justins timing with the hands isn't on dustin and Max's level. I didnt see a single example over 20 fights to support that. So what does that leave us with? Kicks. The only success I could see him having is kicks but I doubt it will be enough. Max ate over 30 leg kicks from volk in the first fight but it didn't affect his movement that badly(I know justin kicks harder) but get this the 2 fights that Justin was losing the boxing exchanges in and had to revert to solely kicking the legs he was tkod both times. Does that sound like someone who should be 2-1 of an iron chin infinite cardio crisp boxing skills master of footwork max blessed holloway. I really dont think so The highlight reels are really easy to get sucked into and allow it to cause bias but I do all my tape study on mute so I'm not distracted by anything that could audibly or visually effect my perception of what is actually happening. Max is 100% on a skill level that Justin has never reached and at the ripe age of 35+ he's not going to and that's just the sad truth. People thought tony was way better than he was. He took beatings constantly just to come back and win(sound familiar here) also tony was 37 when he fought justin and still almost finished him. If anything I see this being a very sad night for gaethje fans and bettors because if he doesnt knock max out in 2 rnds or less he's going to lose the battle of attrition for the 5th time in the ufc
@spicemma7 ай бұрын
