I love max, one of my favourite fighters, but i'm sure he got dropped against poirier in the 2nd fight, but the fence saved him. He bounced right back. He looked so good as a 55er then on short notice, so I am really looking forward to this one.

Let me try to articulate the reason so many fans are disappointed. First of all, no question, this is a ridiculously stacked card from top to bottom. In that department, the UFC delivered. The main issue is that Dana promised that the main event was going to be so crazy, that the fans wouldn't be able to handle it. This kicked off weeks and weeks of the MMA equivalent to "Who Shot JR?" (The Fight Disciples are too young to know the reference). Well, not only is the main event not "crazy," it's not even an overly exciting event for a regular PPV card. It would've worked great for Brazil, but even on a regular numbered card in Vegas, they would have had to pad out the rest of the main card. Given how ridiculously stacked the card is, and I intend to watch every single fight myself, they didn't need to resurrect Brock Lesner, Ronda Rousey, GSP, Khabib or even Conner. All they needed was an aweseome main event with a built-in narrative that got fans super excited. Volk v Topuria would've worked here. Even O'Malley and Chito. I know they wanted Leon and Islam. That would've been perfect. Perriera v Hill just isn't that sexy. I can go into details why if anyone cares to know but it's an underwhelming event, and even the UFC knows this. So the problem is, Dana promised something huge, and even used the phrase "TRUST ME"....and failed to deliver. And as stacked as the card is, given all the months of anticipation and speculation, OF COURSE the fans are disappointed. The closest we have to superstars on this card are the two fellas fighting for the BMF. Problem there is, that fight doesn't make any sense and the BMF belt is a joke, and it comes off as desperation more than anything else, especially considering both guys are potentially missing out on title shots to do this. I'm not saying it's not gonna be a good fight, it' just seems desperate. But here's my biggest problem. Given all of the above, the fans are understandably disappointed. The thing that I take issue with is how the pundts, Fight Disciples included, or even especially, are GASLIGHTING the fans, saying they have no right to feel this way, that their expectations were unrealistic. No, the UFC promised them something mindblowing and failed to deliver on it. Dana White specifically needs to own this. It's a fuck-up. It's not the fans fault. They're not spoiled. They're not delusional. They were promised something crazy by a man who said TRUST ME and who betrayed their trust. So I understand the Fight Disciples are paid by TNT Sports to hype up UFC PPVs, and to be honest, the TNT Preview rang like an infomercial, especially with die-hard company man Bisping in the mix who comes off with all the sincerity of a used car salesman. But hype all you want, just don't blame the fans or gaslight the fans for being rightfully let down by this underwhelming main event. Now, all that aside, I'm looking forward to ALL the fights. Miller, Bo, Cody.....those are probably the ones I'm most excited for. And Kayla Harrinson Holly Holm too. But I'm looking forward to all of them.

It's a disappointment but you're looking forward to all the fights? 😂 I think we can all agree the headliner doesn't have the wow factor that we expected, but I'd rather a stacked fight card like this with a lackluster main event, than a mediocre fight card with maybe 2 or 3 big fights, and a huge headline.

But yes, the card is great, but the main event does simply not live up to expectations, and that's not just my opinion, it's also the UFC's opinion, as this was literally the last fight they considered for the main event and they settled on this out of desperation. Had Dana not promised a main event that none of us could have handled, there'd be far less grumbling about this one.

I kinda get your points and generally agree with alot of it but most know it's a given Adam & Nick have more of a vested intrest with the UFC and its promotion and your going to get the extra bit of selling the event. I still watch and listen and i like both of the guys and generally enjoy the pod. On Dana look it's a case of the majority of what comes out of promoters mouths is complete bollox whether it's Dana with the UFC or a Hearn in boxing. Even though i think he's a piece of shit person i would have sympathy with Dana as with numbered cards like 300 per say things have to go very perfectly into place for everything to go off on that date e.g. if certain stars are injured/unavailable but UFC 300 has to go ahead by April. You can't do 301 in April then do 300 a month later when a main attraction is available. Like with 200 Jones / Cormier falling apart even the amount of main events that have fallen off in the July int fight wk event where alot of them are main star main event focused.

It's just that he promised the moon and then set a rather sub-par main event (I'm talking about the inherent anticipation, not the fight itself which was insane). I'm more annoyed with all the pundits gaslighting the fans and pretending that Dana never caused all this insanity in the first place. Nevertheless.... I don't care who you are or how excited or disappointed you were in this on paper, UFC 300 goes down as one of the greatest fight cards in history. The fighters absolutely delivered, with one incredible performance after the next. Can't wait for the Fight Disciples review show. Those guys are gonna lose their minds.

Bit unfair to say that fans are spoilt if they have issues with the card; it was the UFC who said we "wouldn't be able to handle" the main event. I don't think anyone's mind is blown at the prospect of Hill v Pereira. Not to pick on them, but the two challengers in the top two fights could be stood in a lift with anyone but the most hardcore MMA fan and not get recognised. In this sense, it's a great card for those of us in the MMA bubble, but there's close to zero crossover appeal. Can we really say a card is " the best combat sports event ever" if the cultural impact will be non-existent?
