I had Erceg winning rounds 2,3 and 4 but 3 was so close i wouldn't argue either way. Brings up a point about draws though. No one wants to see one but sometimes a round is okay to be a 10 10.

I had it slightly in favour of Erceg, I gave him rounds 2 and 4 and I think he just about edged round 5 with more damage. Absolutely not a robbery though and either man could’ve got the nod imo

Even though grappling is not scored whatsoever now unless you are actively going for submissions and doing ground and pound, people still have misconceptions about the scoring. UNLESS YOU ARE DOING SOMETHING THAT IS CONTRIBUTING TO THE END OF THE FIGHT IT IS NOT SCORED. Meaning that pantoja laying on top of erceg literally counts for nothing. Fed up of judges getting this wrong consistently, this is exactly the same as Gane vs Ngannou, where Ngannou did nothing in the 5th except sit on top and heavy breathe on Gane and they gave him the round.

I don't think enough attention is given to how Paul Craig approaches a fight. He's usually/always very specific about how he sees the fight going. Before each one it's "I'm going to triangle him" or "I'm going to use my improved boxing and win in round 2 after 2 minutes and 17 seconds with a straight right hand". How many other fighters do that? Do you see Leon say I'm going to win by headkick? Or Tom say I'm going to beat Volkov without taking a shot? They've got multiple ways to win and they know it. Paul seems to forget he has multiple weapons. Also, can someone remind him it's a sport and he's good at it? He's so sheepish and embarrassed about not being world champion yet. The dude needs to chill out. Drop the bravado that you lost because of this or that circumstance. It's not the weight, it's not the camp, it's not the colour of your shorts. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. Get comfortable with the idea that you could get knocked out, and then go out there and try to win with all the confidence you can do it and no pressure on your shoulders. We all know he can do it.

Erceg lost the fight due to making some poor tactical decisions later in the fight. Its become the new in thing for people to side with the popular charismatic guy, more a casual thing but they seem to make up the majority now MMA has become more mainstream. Also poor knowledge of the rules sways some people mindset, damage in a round not carrying over into subsequent rounds being one.

The judges have been really bad recently and there’s so much evidence for it. Just ask yourself just how many controversial decisions we’ve had in the past few years. They are controversial for a reason. Erceg won based on the scoring criteria round by round. Simple as that.

Erceg won that 3-2 possibly 4-1, 4-1 Pantoja is absolutely shocking

Chael Sonnen gave all 5 rounds to Pantoja. Grapplers are refusing to convert to the new scoring system. Control time on the ground is not more important than damage.

According to the rules, you have to dominantly beat the champ to win. In that sense Erceg didn't do that. He was just grazing him with little elbows and never dropped or hurt him. So many casuals out here who don't understand the rules.
