Jiri needs a break for a year, but the contender match ups to make were Jiri V. Rountree / Ankalaev V. Rakic with the winners having a contender fight to decide who fights Poatan. Dont think its happening that way because Poatan is 36 and wants to fight NOW. Jiri isnt ready, Dana hates Ankalaev, Rakic hasnt earned it. Rountree makes sense from that logic. With that said I think Muay Thai Rountree stands a chance.

I think Jiri can beat Alex. But he has to be sane, grounded and very clear on what he's dealing with and how he's going to tackle that. Alex improved in strategy between the two fights. Jiri has to understand that this is going to happen from hereon in. Guys are going to study him and work out how to use what he does against him. Now, lesser fighters won't be as effective with their hooks and kicks and the timing, so Jiri may survive and get his own KO in the meantime, but the smarter and better the fighters are... they may get it to a decision, at least, if they are all defence, or tailor everything to the counter punches. He was so in the wrong place at 303, distracted with what didn't matter, tactically lost, unsure... And handed himself over to Alex who was ready and waiting. Volk in perky form. The audience were very good, encouraging questions, contributing nicely to the spirit of the event.

He can beat him! Jiri could use front kicks like he did against Reyes for good damage and range control and he could actually utilize a proper jab and mix in hooks and low kicks to be more diverse. Using his own kicks also gets him better range control and prevents his own legs from being kicked. He also showed in the glover fight to actually have high level grappling and submission skills and he took Alex down in the first fight and matched Alex physically.

He could also switch up low and high/head kicks just like Pereira did to him. These are all classic and fundamental aspects of striking and Jiri needs to delve deeper into the sweet science of it all to better hone and recognize his true power and potential, which I think is limitless.
