Umar made some damn good points during his skirmishes with merab. Merab did come across like he was avoiding fighting him EARLY ON in his champ run. He says who have you fought to deserve it? Who did Islam fight to deserve his shot? My point there is that it doesn’t matter who they fought, it matters what the fans want and what styles clash look like. Look at Islam now. Umar has better striking than merab and can arguably keep up with the wrestling, I’m betting he can, so yeah. I’m not surprised he wanted a few defenses before fighting umar.
