There is absolutely no way JJ won this fight , even if you say he lost the first 3 , how dus 2 rounds beat, I would say the last 2 rounds were close but even if you gave John the last 2 he definitely lost the first 3 , don’t care what anyone says , JJ NEVER won that fight , every one of them judges shld be ashamed of themselves because Gus got robbed and should have been champ after that fight

Officially he outstruck Gustaffson in E.V.E.R.Y S.I.N.G.L.E round. Gustaffson was striking much more, but there are a ton of times where it looks like he hits a combo but he doesn't even touch Jones. The very same thing happened in the Thiago Santos fight. Jones is not a dynamic puncher like Gustaffson, Santos, or even DC, he's not throwing fast combos, he works from the distance, uses a lot of kicks, that's why it looks like for example in this fight that Gustaffson is better. In attempted sig strikes Jones has been down a LOT of times in his career. But Gus was landing less than 40% of his strikes while Jones had 60% +. That's the main difference. Santos also had like 30% sig strikes in their fight lmao. Doing things that look good to the eye but Jones either blocked them or wasn't even touched. To the eyes it looks like he's doing more, but Jones ultimately outstruck him and Gus was barely holding it together by the end of the 4th round.

At no point did Jones create visible damage or reactions to impact in round 1-3. While Gus created visible damage and reaction to impacts in round 1-3.

@@SSC604 For example i round 1 they both had 11 sig striles on the head. But Jones 1,5x had more strikes on general. Damage does matter but you're oversimplifying the situation. There are other metrics as well like octagon control or takedowns of course -> whoch Gus did. I don't remember the fight clearly now but to me i remember it as a really close fight that Jones won.

Every year I would watch this fight and see if I could spot something I didn't previously see. Every time I watch it I just get baffled wondering how the fuck Jones won this fight. He got his face busted up in rounds 1-3. You could even argue that Jones was losing the 4th round until the last minute when he landed that elbow but I'm fine with giving him this round. Round 5 you can see that Gus is still wobbly and goes into survival mode. Easy 48-47 for Gus. I don't know what the fuck the media and judges were watching. This is a clear victory for Gus.
