When the Producers of the show first came up with the idea of Ed having different coloured phones in his office, it may have been to present an image of each coloured phone being used for different circumstances. They probably didn’t count on viewers like yourself doing an amazing job running a fine tooth comb through the episodes, Bravo as always. Your time preparing these shows is appreciated Alexa!

I have two phones on the desk in front of me right now. One is a multi-line phone connected to the PBX, which is used mainly for incoming calls and also internal calls. The other one is a direct private line that doesn't go anywhere else. That gets used for a lot of outgoing calls.

I remember reading a biography of William Hartnell by his daughter, who recalled that he developed a detailed headcanon for the controls of the original TARDIS console and he insisted on sticking to it religiously, adamant that fans would notice continuity errors. Apparently to the occasional chagrin of directors who cared more about the blocking of the scene than what particular panel or button the main character was currently using to open the doors, turn on the viewcreen, etc. I wonder if a similar thing might have applied here, with either a series "bible" or just unofficial agreement assigning proper functions to props, but sometimes getting overlooked out of necessity or indifference and assuming that fans won't notice these things, when of course they always do...

Love Hartnell’s Doctor - this makes me like his performance even more. I feel like the ancient, crotchety personality is what I would end up as in 1,000+ years just dealing with humans and general galactic mayhem.

@@teainthemidlands The original is always the best. Bill Hartnell was a legend.

The phones in UFO I liked the best were the ones they used on Moonbase and a few other places. I used to have a couple, they were actually intercom phones, they couldn't be connected to direct outside lines.

The Moonbase ones are great, although they look exactly like my sd card reader!
