I suppose you have to be a certain age to truly appreciate how groundbreaking this British SF show and Gerry Anderson truly was. UFO heavily influenced the 1994 Microprose game X-Com: Enemy Unknown. And subsequently, the early access 2022 edition of Terra Invicta certainly is influenced by the original Mictoprose game albeit it’s a much more larger scale. I for one, would love to see this series revived, reimagined even.

@chrisgibbings949914 күн бұрын
I'd put CA as episode 11, not too early so that Freeman doesn't look as if he's walking too soon, and not too late as the pacing is too measured for a later episode, and the dynamics between the characters belong reasonably early in the run. Later episodes should generally have everyone clicking together better and procedures improved to avoid such accidents. Don't forget, despite the hopeful ending, Straker's still killed an Alien on the operating table. Re A New Hope, I only watch the original version, the one shown on big screens in 1977-'78, when it was just called Star Wars.

I would know you had been taken over by the aliens if SID blows up, and you say in a deadpan voice, "Good riddance to the trash can!" My favourite part of this episode is when the blind man gets spooked by Collins. The aliens wouldn't be able to comprehend his sixth sense.

I'm reasonably sure that SHADO personnel are specially conditioned to be able to survive mostly on a diet of alcohol and tobacco. It saves having to take a lunch break. Obviously when they're out and about in public they'd have to be seen eating actual food, like normal people. I'm not sure I get your point about Granny Smith apples. These are a very popular type in the UK. I myself take one into work every day as part of my packed lunch, and they taste just fine to me. Maybe there's something different about what they do to apples in America.
@teainthemidlands17 күн бұрын
That is amazing! I can barely eat them without puckering up; I wonder if ours our way tarter? An experiment to run when I am next in the UK!
@greedycapitalist859016 күн бұрын
@@teainthemidlands That could potentially make for an interesting video on your other channel. I've seen videos comparing American and British/European versions of the same foods before and - spoiler warning - the American versions usually come off worse, because of all the additives. Maybe the apples in your shops are shot full of preservatives, something to "enhance" the colours or whatever. Our laws on such things are a bit more stringent.

In the hospital scene with Paul, Ed must have purchased the fruit bowl! He seems to know what is in it. The piece he takes is buried under other fruit pieces, yet he seems to know the exact piece of fruit he is after. No foraging, just moves the offending pieces out the way to access what he wants! When the fruit bowl was brought into Paul, Ed would have been thinking “ Don’t eat the piece on the bottom Paul, don’t eat the piece on the bottom!” Entertaining as always Alexa!

When the Producers of the show first came up with the idea of Ed having different coloured phones in his office, it may have been to present an image of each coloured phone being used for different circumstances. I have two phones on the desk in front of me right now. One is a multi-line phone connected to the PBX, which is used mainly for incoming calls and also internal calls. The other one is a direct private line that doesn't go anywhere else. That gets used for a lot of outgoing calls.

I remember reading a biography of William Hartnell by his daughter, who recalled that he developed a detailed headcanon for the controls of the original TARDIS console and he insisted on sticking to it religiously, adamant that fans would notice continuity errors. Apparently to the occasional chagrin of directors who cared more about the blocking of the scene than what particular panel or button the main character was currently using to open the doors, turn on the viewcreen, etc. I wonder if a similar thing might have applied here, with either a series "bible" or just unofficial agreement assigning proper functions to props, but sometimes getting overlooked out of necessity or indifference and assuming that fans won't notice these things, when of course they always do...
@teainthemidlandsАй бұрын
Love Hartnell’s Doctor - this makes me like his performance even more. I feel like the ancient, crotchety personality is what I would end up as in 1,000+ years just dealing with humans and general galactic mayhem.
