No need for a heavy net when shrimping in 3-4 feet of water. It's no deeper than 4 foot in the middle of that river. Everyone uses 3/4 of a lb per foot nets. The most popular around here is Old Salt.

@@RollingCajunOutdoors I used to throw a net when the shrimp MOVED not just baiting them . In a good spot when the tide is running in 6-10 of water in the bayou 3-4kt current I have caught 10lb+ per throw . You got to know where and when and why they are moving the red legs will tell you . Get a flat bottom with heavy mushroom anchors to hold the boat in position ease into the mud if you want them back . If you just drop a 40lb mushroom anchor hard and fill the boat with shrimp you have to leave the anchor or sink the boat .
@RollingCajunOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Filling a boat with shrimp would be illegal. You are allowed 100 lbs of shrimp per person per day. I don't do illegal things those rules are in place for a reason.

I don't share spots anymore because I do a lot of fishing on the land and it's already too crowded at most of the spots I go too. haha I gotta put rocks in it because sometimes that tide is rolling hard through there and it will run off with your basket real fast. Bro. If your not taking those small fish. Why don’t you throw back instead of leaving it on land to die? Lol
@RollingCajunOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Because shrimp only come through at certain times and when they come through you throw your ass off and there is no time to throw all that back. If you spend all your time throwing small fish back you never catch shrimp.

The lazy cast netters do the same thing here. It reeks to high heaven of dead fish. It takes a few seconds to throw the by catch back.

@@cristinecornell9884 no it doesn't take a few seconds to throw them back when you catching hundreds per cast it has nothing to do with being lazy when the shrimp are running we're there to catch shrimp not spending entire time throwing bait back it's not that hard to grasp
@cristinecornell98842 жыл бұрын
Horse crap. I cast net myself and manage to get the fish back in the water. There weren’t hundreds of shrimp being caught per cast. It’s a cast net, not a shrimp boat. Use a champagne basket and toss the first back. It’s really simple and fast.
