I watched Netflix's Uglies and it was the worst movie I've watched this year. I wanted to like it so bad... but I was SO bored.

the concept could make sense - from what i’ve heard about the books, it has made sense. netflix just made it dumb with bad screenplay. also - i really liked the end, but only if there’s no sequel. if it just ends like this, it would be super interesting.

I think part of the problem with this movie is that they made a movie of a book that is so 2000's. Like its not the type of book that can like "transcend time" or wtv like a classic novel can, the whole idea of the movie / book is something that only really worked in the 2000's so when they take a book that is stuck in the pat and try to make it a movie it just doesn't work out.

hi sorry to correct you but dystopian fiction did not start with uglies! there were many stories before that were in this genre, like 1984 and Examination Day! i know that they werent typically 'girl saves world' but technically uglies didnt start this genre

The movie is bad but I enjoyed it to some extent😭😭 I had to ignore all the clichés and the main character's stupidity and honestly A LOT of things but I halfly enjoyed it I also have a different interpretation for some scenes and the operation thing so that changes my point of view
